I can see that I'm slowly changing hearts and minds. Not sure how I became the spokesperson for this product... but I'm happy to wear the mantle. I don't think it's "ghetto" like some have posted... it's a replaceable solution, much like car wrap, which looks very very good even under close inspection. It allows for wheel protection, and for changing your mind infinitely. As I also don't like the shiny black color offered by porsche, and i do like the grey stock color of the wheels.. it makes perfect sense to me.
when you take into account the extreme heat which powdercoating requires, the fact that you have to remove the tires from the wheel, and fact that it's permanent.. let alone the cost differential... it's a no-brainer. I've curbed a wheel with plastidip, it removed the dip and left a shiny metal underneath... I just peeled it all off and started over... one hour later I had a perfect wheel again... try that with powdercoating.

i also thought you had to take the wheels off... I'm as meticulous as anyone trust me, so I always have taken the wheel off. however, if you check out the youtube videos... if you don't want to take wheels off, it's still quite doable.
My suggestion is to lay the wheel down on the driveway, and take your time doing it that way. there is zero "risk" in applying plastidip.. it just goes on like the skin of a balloon... once you get your nail under it you can peel it off like latex.

I've dipped my wheels before. It was a neat experiment...once. It in no way looks as good as properly coated wheels. I suppose if you need to save money on your new $150k car, then go for it. Just don't understand the infatuation. Moving on...

Now that's a whole 'nother level.. Plastidip ping your car takes more skill. However, I don't see how the quality up close on wheels is any different from powder.. Maybe Hoopumpers made a few mistakes in application?.. Done right it looks fantastic.

Personally think the new GT3 wheels are going to be hard to beat in terms of weight, quality, price, and strength. They're a considerable step up from the old cast wheels on prior GT3's. Not saying that there aren't better out there but you're likely looking at Rays money to surpass.
They even make the BBS forged 1-piece monoblock centerlocks look cheap.
Sure are beautiful though. But that's no surprise - every factory GT3 wheel looks better than anything aftermarket.

$2860 each front wheel, and $3143 each rear wheel - $12k for a set. That's in the standard platinum finish.
In black: $3708 f / $4061 r. That's right - nearly $16k for the set.
Oh, and while we're on the topic... PCCB rotors have gone up substantially - each one is nearly $7k.

I knew about a ball park number of about 2000$,but might be more with these babies,if offered...
P.S. Bare in mind that you can usually negotiate the final price...

I know for BMW it was about 2k...but those 19inch M wheels are nothing compared to these...
If it's even close to 2k, it'll be worth it for just one tire and one wheel repair!
