Quick question: Is there an option to have the steering wheel covered in leather instead of alcantara? I did that for my 997 GT3, but can't find it on the configurator. There is a steering column in leather option but no mention of the wheel itself.
Thx

It's not real obvious and the description of the item doesn't really provide a clue. Under the Options tab, Interior Leather, choose the Sport Design Steering wheel for $0. (FYI, it's option #840)

I need some input re: wheels...
Going with Sapphire blue, debating black painted wheels for an aggressive look, v/s the more understated stock titanium like color.
Any opinions?

I think the platinum finish wheels are just about the nicest factory wheels out there and look great with Sapphire. You asked for an opinion; I wouldn't order black wheels but that's entirely subjective. Black wheels do have more of a bad-*** look so if that's what you're going for there's not a wrong answer, get what you like.

My options are: front lift; leather/extended leather; rain sensor; extinguisher; sound; a little anthracite aluminum inside; aluminum fuel cap.

Definitely an individual taste thing. I think the factory finish will look amazing and I agree they are some of the nicest looking factory wheels out there but personally I just love the black wheel look on almost every color of car. Here is a pic I saw online with sapphire with black wheels in case you didn’t see it (sorry, it’s tiny and low-res but it may help).

Thanks, it's a tough call, but I think I prefer the slightly more understated titanium /blue contrast.

Awesome. And now the fun begins. So how did you pull this off. I am sure the dealer has a long wait list. Come on tell us

All you can do is try. I was late to the party too. Started talking to my dealer back in August or Sept. He said back then that he didn't think it would be a problem. I was/am # 9 on the list. Talked to him yesterday and he stated that they are allocated 8 cars plus all dealerships get 2 extras as demos or something. They are supposed to start calling all the people on the list to see who is still interested. I purchased my 997s new from them in 2006. He said that lets him know that I'm a serious customer and that we have a "relationship" that wants to continue.
I will post when I get my real allocation.
Good luck!
