Went to order a GT3 today, stealer tells me RS is summer 2014 with option of pdk or standard tranny. Good chance it's BS, but I thought I'd pass it on.

22% price increase over 997.2 RS. Lots of carbon fiber.

On the off chance it's true, I put a deposit on the RS.

the manual tranny part seems like BS ... the rest could be plausible ... I wonder if that means the car will be launched at Frankfurt?

Like larry said, all sounds reasonable (particularly the price). But a manual tranny that makes an RS slower than the GT3? That bit doesn't make sense.

FWIW my dealer said exactly the same thing--that there's a chance of a manual in the RS. I told him the logic above and he backed off the point immediately. Most dealers don't know jack.

The 2010 GT3 had a base of $113,150 (Edmunds). The last RS was a 2011 and went for $140,150 (Motor Trend). (edit: I see different numbers above...different sources I guess or times in the model year).

Anyway, with a 22% increase in price that would put a 991 RS around $170K. Almost makes sense, as it slots the RS in between a 991 TT at $148.3K and a TTS at $181.1K.

If its a 4 liter and/or significantly more power I say great, but otherwise a tad overpriced for what it will get you over the GT3 991. Everyone seems to get so excited about the RS, but dollar for dollar the GT3 will be a better buy I believe.

The mere thought of this gets me excited, but I doubt POrsche will admit it right now. They will force everyone to buy PDk now --then hopefully drop the manual bombshell in a year.

The manual is not going to happen. This is really getting old thread after thread. No offense but they are going to sell every one they make without a manual. Period.

My 2010RS no options car was MSRP was $132800.00 same as the new GT3 except it came with proper seats no extra charge.

My 4.0 no option car was 187500. MSRP.

The new prices are crazy, the car much more regular and has tons of alternatives it needs to compete against including the Turbo for only 15 K more.

Yet all the reviewers say its a bargain in today's market at $130K. Interesting, huh....

I suppose it's obvious based on how I'm choosing to spend my money, but I'd rather have the GT3 than a TT even if they were the same price. The $18K premium for the TT makes the decision that much easier.

170RS, i think i buy GT3
stick shift would be dumb. drive a PDK, and you will know. if you still insist stick... you need to buy a 3.8RS and then a 991RS in PDK.

Why would you say a Manual RS would be slower than a PDK GT3?

With more power and less weight and better aero (and wider track and wheels), I think a Manual RS (well driven) is going to be at least as fast as a GT3, and more fun by far (if true).
