This The RS will not see big depreciation. Prices have been firm even with the announcement of the new one.

Jokes aside - Not sure that the Gt3RS is a great buy if you have no intention to track it. Do you like PDK - I do - but others want a MT only. Then your choice is clear.

Wait for the Gt3 or buy a 997.2 GT3 to tide you over. Depreciation will be greater on the new one at $142K and not really a limited edition vs. an RS.

Not sure I'm helping

My plan is to wait until someone gets bored with 991 GT3 in couple years and pick it up

just sold a .2 3 for good money. like the rawness of the RS, like manual. not sure what gt3 pdk will be, may like it... like a lot about the new car, 9k revs, no more coolant line issues, CLs are likely better (hopefully). don't care that I will likely not track the car. still like hard core. pro/con column is pretty even for me.

BUY IT!

The GT3 wont be in stores until November at the earliest and with options they'll be in the $150k plus range.

If you want something now the RS with it's wide flares and uprated suspension is a BEAST! It might also become collectible with the advent of the new 991 GT3 PDK. A 2011 RS 3.8 is in my opinion the best GT3 value right now. The 4.0 is rarer but quite a bit more expensive and I've never been a fan of the graphics on the 4.0 although they are incredibly unique and IMMEDIATELY identify the car to any Porsche guy in the know.

GET THE 3.8 RS, if it's a clean car you can't do much better than this and you can have it TODAY!

40 years from now the .2 gt3 RS will be competing for affection with the 73 RS while the 991 GT3 is competing with a 996 C2...

Worth getting the 991 for the chassis alone, let alone all the other improvements. If you really want involvement, get an older 911, not a 997.
