the new car looks great, and all the technology sounds cool; new engine, new PDK (s/w), rear wheel steering etc...

will I buy one...?

no I dont think so, its crossed the line for me, I am sure all this new tech works great, but I like my manual tx, I dont want rear wheel steering or PTV+ (recall the overheating issues with the brake bias and cooling on the 7.1 cars) ...

I feel like the hard core GT3 community has been ignored at best, there is too much technology in this car ... maybe a K510 conversion to a 7.2 car is the future path for those of us "left behind"

or perhaps the RS will cater for "us"?

How much better does a 911 have to be than what you've got or an RS 3.8?

I'm thinking 997.1 RS or GT3 with a Manthey 4.3 (?) and RSR suspension done to "20 foot" appearance as a track car that can still pass CA SMOG and drive to the track sometimes.

could not agree more CGT! Manthey K510 (aka 4.3L engine upgrade) and even their KW V3 suspension kit would be more than enough for me ...

I'm sure the new car is amazing ... and I wonder what they will do (if anything) for the RS ... but I think I'm out ... I don't think this GT3 is "special" anymore ... interesting what AP said about the new engine and its relationship to the 9A1 ...

Glad that too much sea, drinks and exotic girls couldn't impair your judgment.

Welcome back and you can't but read the full 100+ p. scoop thread. No excuses. : )

Hi Carrera GT,

Well, a 997.1RS..with a Manthey Kit with more than 500HP..this will be a monster..and real challenge to drive..but I fully agree with Larry ..

PS: but from sheer driving experience, the C-GT will probably be the last real "mans" car..997 GT2 and 997 GT2RS included (4.0L also)..

I might get one if Porsche offers the sport bucket seats as an option or if these cars sit on dealers lots and I can pick up on a decent enough discount to balance the cost of installing sport bucket seats.

I was hiding in the Caribbean (Virgin Gorda) drinking painkillers heavily to forget the 4-wheel steering, PDK, and Boxster engine...

Biras Creek ... unfortunately their internet connection was good enough for me to watch the entire evoTV interview with AP ... I drank extra heavily that day!

rear wheel steering ... all that is missing is the "flower vase" on the dash... a no cost option unless you opt for the CF version!

Larry, I should get a royalty from Petevb as I keep linking to his excellent post on RWS. Your car already has it; a passive version. You might want to read this; it's very interesting.

Cheers Mike, I did not know that ... I guess I am ranting at the addition of an active system ...

how am I supposed to justify not getting a new car when fact is introduced to counter blind irrational prejudice, damn it!
