Default Z06 for GT3?

Quick question guys. I’ve been on here forever but not much lately. My GT3 is 6 years old and 5000 miles. Front lift red belts pdk thats it. MSRP 145k white

I stopped by my Chevy dealership to to put my name on the ZR1 list. But in front is a 23 Z06 Z07 package every option but the carbon wheels.
300 miles
MSRP is 165,000 they’re asking 171 but I know they’re around MSRP
Theyre offering me the Z06 and $9000 for my car.

Worth taking?
Ive been a Porsche guy since I was 10. But before that I loved the old corvettes

anyway Ive becomed disillusioned with Porsche because when I was young I could go in and order or get any 911 I wanted this is my third GT3. 996,997,991.2.
I paid 95 for the first one MSRP-122

second MSRP was $122 I paid 122

third I paid 15 over

Now I’m older have way more money and the hoops I have to jump through to get a new one are fu@king ridiculous
I have a friend who owns a dealership and I can’t get on a list. I can’t even get on a list to buy a simple 911 turbo. I’m really done with the whole mess
i have my letter inviting me to buy a 918 with the book and I have no pull with Porsche after 7 911 purchases

I’m ready to move. I drove the car and it’s simply amazing. I know I’d be disappointed with anything less than a GT3 but this car surpasses it in speed and sound.

intellectually I’m ready it’s my emotional side that I’m having a hard time with. But Porsche put me here with all the games hoops and greed

oil change GT3 is $1300 at the dealership
Z06 is $130

thoughts ?

I am right there with you. I have my Porsche GT cars and after getting a CPO C8 23 Z06 myself I know what you are thinking. Thats why I ordered a second one that goes into production Aug 19. DO NOT expect it to be a Porsche and you will be happy. It will not have the resale of a GT3. But it costs a lot less and plenty are available right now on dealer lots for MSRP. I track my cars and skipped the 07 package. It adds $18,000 to the sticker and almost all of the performance gain is the tires. That 18K can go a lot further with performance bits than the 07 package. BTW, fellow Club Motorsports member got 1300 miles before cording his 07 package tires. Most of that was break in miles.

$1300 oil change? WTF... $300, at dealer for my gt2rs, I live in San Jose California. The process is extremely easy anyway, 15min job.

I do have friends and family pricing but regular was like $450 or something

Thanks, that’s kinda what I was thinking. My GT3 is 6 years old out of warranty and I’m just a little worried. But I think I can enjoy this car. And I’ll put money away for tires
‘I’d love to stay in the Porsche family, but this GT thing is out of hand - when I got my first GT3 we all tracked. Then in the 997 era about 75% of us tracked. Then by the 991 era wannabes were more
worried about their headlight ring matching their deviated stitching color. THEN they had the audacity to post about how their wives hate the car because it’s noisy and loud and has a rough ride
all the things we love about the 3. And it was these flippers and people who wanted status symbols that caused the enthusiasts to be shut out of any hope of getting a car. Hell now I’ve called around and
asked about 911 turbo S and I’d be 10 or 11 on the list. It’s ridiculous. So as much as l love the brand I’m tired of Porsche NA not caring about guys who’ve been in the family for 25 years

Yea it was 1299 I think. I know how simple it is. I’ve done it 3 times but at 65 I don’t like putting the car on jackstands and crawling underneath. It’s like $75 total with oil the crush washers and the Mahle filter
pull off the aero cover and drain.

I own both cars (Z07 and 991.2 GT3). As said above, as long as you don't expect it to be a Porsche, you will be fine. Sounds like you want a change. The car sounds and drives amazingly well. Cruise anywhere in touring mode with quiet sound and light steering and pedal feels. Then crank it to track for everything turned up to kill.
Aftermarket will soon catch up with it.

Just in my city alone, among all the "track guys", it is shocking how many people are bailing on Porsche and buying Z51 and Z06 cars for the track. I honestly can't blame them. Both cars are faster than a GT4 and 991 GT3, Z51 needs a few mods for true track-worthiness, but once done, my full extreme track-build 981 GT4 with Dundon everything power, can't really keep up with a Z51 on simple set of MCS shocks and some brakes. I'm not talking about poser guys who need the Porsche badge for their cruising around town to impress people, I'm talking about guys who own MANY cars and can afford whatever they want, are buying vettes for the first time for track use. The corvette chassis is now become the one to have for a lot of various reasons.

If you can do both, that's what I recommend, but I know it's simply not feasible, or just reasonable for a lot of people for various reasons. I didn't want to give up any of my P-cars for the Z07, and figured if I didn't like it I would sell it. I'm not selling it.

Over in the 992 GT3 board, if you even bring up a Z06, Alot of them get super defensive and crap all over Chevy, as they have to justify the 100K ADM's they all paid for their cars, or just have this weird brand elitist attitude, like they won't be caught dead in a "chevy" out on the motorway. That drives me crazy. Porsche isn't the only manufacturer that makes great driving cars. I like different experiences, and while my favorite ones always tend to be Porsche, there are others worth experiencing. The C8 Z06/Z07 certainly falls into that category. Nice to see the 997 and 991 boards still know how to have an adult conversation without the douche-baggery.

I owned a C7 grand sport, it was a great car for the money, less expensive to run & track, but as others have mentioned you have to be aware its not a Porsche re quality but its not terrible either. easy to work on, with an active enthusiast community. i am looking to add a z06 as a track car.

in your shoes I would not hesitate to try the c8.

I completely understand where you’re coming from. I’m in the build a street cup car or looks for something else. Test drove a C8Z a few weeks ago and I didn’t fit well in the seats but I’m not sure it had the most aggressive seats as I felt I couldn’t get low enough… but I’ve been running around in sparco evos for a few years so I’m used to feeling very low in the seat.

The z06 is definitely the better car, and better value, but in the end it's an emotional decision to many, including myself. I work for GM, and own a GT3 RS. I think the new Z06 is amazing, and an incredible machine, but I love the GT3 RS. Z06 is the better car for sure.

That's a good thing IMO.

There are many things the C8 generation does so much better than the 992 generation cars.

I think you have to consider the economics of it. Porsche can't or won't produce enough cars (right now), so there has to be a mechanism to allocate them. Either through highest bidder (ADM) or relationships.

Chevy may perform better and cost a small fraction, but it's still not a Porsche.

Also, I think there is a certain progression in cars as there is in life. Many people start out with Honda or Ford, then BMW, then Porsche, then Ferrari and Lamborghini, and finally Pagani and Bugatti. It depends on your financial situation and personal preferences.

I consider the End Game. When I get to my deathbed I will not say, "I'm glad I saved money by not buying that car I really wanted."

I can’t even get on a list to buy a simple 911 turbo.
I walked into one dealership and was offered a Turbo S allocation for $10K over. I'm sure you can find one for MSRP if you call around...

I'd totally trade a stripper PDK gt3 for a loaded Z06. I had a non Z07 I declined mainly because I don't want to lose my manual, but without that I would have made the jump

I have a 991.2 GT3 Touring and a C8 Z06 (non-Z07). I ordered it to be a Touring spec and it's f...ing amazing. I love driving it just for the sound. First Corvette; had 25+ Porsches. I can keep both, if I could only keep one I'd have a really hard time deciding. It would come down to the brand I want to own vs the car.

Yea I’m glad we can sit down and talk responsibly and respectfully. I come all the way from the 993 gang so I’ve loved all my friends on this board. But yea the farther we get down the line the less respect we seem to share with other car friends. I’d like a Ferrari but it’s more games .
i was looking huracan but i found one and the salesman said a guy traded it in on a 991.2 RS

911s were my motivation for getting my education my job selection so that’s the emotional part. But it’s like that family member who just doesn’t give a crap about his own family members and it’s seems to get worse with each iteration
they can invite me to buy a 918 but forget getting a 911
i live in Idaho so my dealer selection is poor but I bought this one from Newport Beach but many dealers say they only sell local
