Carbon Buckets - broken upper trim (belt guides)
2015 GT3 w/ carbon buckets, roll cage, and harness
While detailing the car this week, I noticed the plastic upper trim (guides for harness) were loose on both seats. This is a 2 piece clam shell design, a pair for each shoulder. (see photos)
These are secured in place by 6 small, hex head screws with captive self-locking nuts held in place by plastic bits. Upon closer inspection, I realized they are in fact broken, both sets on both seats. They were being held in place by sticky foam and simply pulled apart to remove. The embedded captive nuts are surrounded by broken plastic. (see photos) I bought the car two months ago and this was not caught by the PPI or my own inspection.
Just simple ABS/plastic, how hard (expensive) could this possibly be right ? REPAIR KIT, BELT GUI - 99152192190 - $790.00
https://www.vertexauto.com/product/1...ui-99152192190
seat with parts removed
driver seat (pair)
close up, notice all the broken plastic?
all of this is broken, how does this happen ?
It looks to me (according to PET) the original part number has been replaced by 991.521.921.90 with a description of "repair kit". The old part number(991521321905Q0) appear to be for the clam shell itself. The new part number says "repair kit" with no photos and not other information at all. The price is $750 -$825 depending on the seller. I called 4 different Porsche dealers and Vertex, nobody can tell me what's in the box and how many guides can be repaired with this "kit". Half seat, whole seat, both seats? if this kit only does 1 seat, i would need two or $1600 for 4 pairs of plastic (not carbon)
Anyone familiar with this kit or seen this problem before? Recommendations other than glue, two sided tape, etc
All help is greatly appreciated - Ron

You can easily expoxy the nuts in the broken hole and reinstall the guides.
I fixed a couple on mine and it’s holding up well.
Edit: Looks like yours are in much worse shape and some of spots are completely gone. Probably need to buy new guides.
