My 14 has its warranty period run out so is it still worthwhile for “good will” to continue maintenance at dealer should engine have a problem or go independent.

This is a tricky one, IMO. If you have a good dealer (probably more important your SA) that you trust to advocate for you, I think there is a lot of benefit to maintaining that relationship (which comes at a cost). Even in goodwill situations, the service dept is making their profit. I tend to split work between the dealer and my preferred independent, but I can't say there's much logic in my process other than the dealer is way more convenient for me from a location standpoint. I don't see many scenarios where PNA is going to goodwill a replacement engine out of warranty, but you may be able to get a break on the cost. PDK is another thing that keeps me up at night on mine since I abuse it at the track, and goodwill could go a long way if that were to fail.

Self is also an option. If you're at all semi handy the 911 GT cars are relatively easy to work on. Nothing fancy about the assembly, in fact they're well engineered to faciliate being worked on.

Indy. From my experience our local dealer is useless, and in case of out-of-warranty good will kind of stuff... they don't give a damn about your previous history with them

The definite advantages you'll achieve from a legit indy outweigh potential good will advantages from dealer.

Once warranty is gone so am I when it comes to taking it into the stealership aside from tires. I would rather build a relationship with a competent indie where I'm not being hosed at every angle.

My dealer scratched two of my rims when swapping tires... The teens the hire just put rims of the concrete floor, face down, and then showed a little... That was the last time I trusted them with anything.

Yea it's a toss up who you get. However I have heard of indie shops breaking the TPMS sensor on a tire change then leaving it on a client to pay for the repair. Whereas if it's swapped at the dealership and they break the TPMS sensor they pay for it.
