Hi all,
Haven't really seen much on this , has anyone increased the redline of their 991.1 gt3 to 9500-10k rpm?
theres a company that offers a tune and an increase of 500rpm - just curious if anyones done it? thanks

It will do 9.5K for a while but 10 is too high. But power drops off fast and hard going higher so aside from taking a lot of life out of the engine you're not getting anything to show for it.

even at the risk of increased engine wear and possibly damage? - cheaper to get a different exhaust setup to improve sound ... which lets face it does nothing to make the car go faster ...

ive got dundon street headers and a gmg center pipe.
ide like to rev it out to 9500 only in manual mode just on occasion.
if the engines life shrinks by 50% i'de be totally ok with that. but if its a tickign time bomb where it might grenade immediately = then no.

.1 Engine incurs finger follower wear that accelerates over 8500, where the finger follower can not adequetly follow the cam. Going even higher in the rpm range will accelerate this wear for sure.

I like the Idea. Powerwise, revving 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear to 9200 makes sense. Soundwise... I think it can be interesting. Thought about the same, not 9500 or higher but 9200 would be nice. The race version (GT3R 4.0 1st Gen) revs to 9400 but I dont know how different that engine is.
If you can afford a new engine if it dies early, try it for us!

Not sure you need to do that and take the risk. I removed the cats on mine and replaced the stock exhaust with Soul exhaust, mufflers and tailpipes and the sound is epic at way below 9k rpm! Enough for every neighbor to curse at me :-)
btw, I can’t drive the GT3 in NYC now - they passed a 85 decibel noise limit with automatic massive fines - crazy SOBs…85dB is like startup on the GT3. Above 7k rpm, the sound is…..fuhgettaboutit!!!
