Once we’re out of the city, and live in a prettier environment to drive, I’ll be back in a GT3, likely the Touring variant.
I live in Dallas and cycle at White Rock every weekend. I have an suv for daily (and to throw my bike in) and my GT3 for weekends. I’ve tried the “one car for all uses” thing before, doesn’t work.

I have an older Cayenne Turbo S and a new Cayenne Hybrid. Both excellent and fun to drive. Not a GT3 but for a street car way more useable and all the performance you need unless you are drag racing or driving like an unhinged teenager on the street. If I didn't go to the track I would do exactly what you are doing. The only unchecked box for me is that I don't have a manual car or a convertible so my next car will be both - once my kids are driving their own cars and I'm down from owning and maintaining 5 cars, 4 of which are daily driven! Off-topic but in any case sometimes practical matters. Dallas doesn't have a lot of great driving roads around it that I remember from being there but I've never lived there - there are limited good driving roads where I live and it makes the GT3 overkill for the street but I would love to own a Cayenne GT.

Thanks for sharing your perspective. I’m in the same boat after driving the 2024 TGT yesterday afternoon. I was really hoping it would offer enough thrill to persuade me to serve as a DD and sports car. However, as fast as it was, at 5000lbs, it wasn’t the type of vehicle that I could envision myself enjoying driving fast or as a sports car especially after being spoiled by the GT3 for the last 8 years. That was reaffirmed as I flew down the highway grinning widely in my GT3 on the way home from the dealership.

Greatly appreciate everyone’s thoughtful feedback. The TGT is certainly the pinnacle of a sports SUV, and would be a treat to own it and a GT3…but since that’s not an option I’m considering until the kiddos are out of college, I plan to stick with the status quo for the foreseeable future.

Thanks again and Happy Holidays to All!

Glad you drove it, always the best policy. Forum heresay and magazine reviews etc. can never replace firsthand experience. I bought a 981 GT4 sight unseen based on reviews and hated it, sold it in a month. Keep enjoying the GT3 brother

I don’t miss the manual at all…the TGT is perfect for dual purpose and sharing with the wife

I had a turbo gt briefly. it is clearly an amazing machine and performance is off the charts. Ultimately, I just didnt get on with it. I guess Im just not an SUV guy..

I too am a cyclist and went to the RS5 from audi for my daily. I can lay a road bike in there with ease and use a seasucker if I need another one. A panamera gts wouldve worked for me too too. Ive had that in the past; just couldnt find one in my time frame.

If your commutes are short, I'd also plug the Taycan CT 4S (and above). The Taycan is a ridiculously fun to drive car, with ergonomics much like a 911. I love my sedan, but with a bike the CT is more practical. Enjoy the hunt!

My buddy had taycan gts wagon whatever it’s called, the cargo area is quite narrow so make sure your bike fits inside before committing to one of those.

I was just going to say this as well. I'm personally on the hunt for one right now. I have a Audi E-tron GT but as much fun as the acceleration is, I just need some vroom vroom in all my cars, apparently.

I did the opposite. Went from an RS6 to an RS Etron GT. The range of the Etron became a major issue. Loved my RS6 but have an 82 mile round trip commute and filling up every other day got real old real quick. Now I have a Tesla for daily duty and the Porsche for weekend drives. If my commute wasn’t so long, I would get another RS6 because it’s the funnest “practical” car I’ve ever owned.

I picked up a taycan turbo s cross turismo a few weeks back and its the first car i have been able to daily drive outside of a GT3 and not get bored/frustrated/annoyed. porsche makes a bike rack that fits onto the back so you can haul bikes and still access the boot. it's black and it looks like a hearst, with a lot of speed. worth driving a taycan if you can charge an EV at home and haven't driven one yet.

My bikes are expensive and always ride inside. Sometimes I stop somewhere otw home, can’t leave the bike exposed for thieves. Happened to a friend of mine, they stole like a 15k bike off the back of his truck at Starbucks.
