Hard to shift from 2nd to 3rd on track?

Was just at Laguna and had a blast but am finding the car really resists shifting from 2nd to 3rd (MT not PDK) while under lateral load.
Coming out of T2 or out of the corkscrew it will often resist the shift to 3rd until there’s little to no lateral load.
Anyone else experience that? Is it common or a symptom of something I need to remedy?

I had a similar issue a few years ago and it turns out the clutch needed to be bled. I’m guessing, and hoping, yours is the same.

- maybe get your transmission fluids replaced...
- check your PADM mounts are "ok"...
- switch shifter cables to cup...

Can't speak to mechanical cause, but not usual. Shift 2nd to 3rd under lateral load regularly.
When you say resists, notchy? Or, complete lock out? Soon as you're straight ahead shifts into 3rd smoothly?
Not to suggest user error, but you're being accurate through the gate 2nd to 3rd while under lateral load?

Could be engine/transmission mounts. They can deflect under load and misalign the shifter. The active mounts on 997 and 991 are now replaced with passive mounts on the 992. Maybe your active mounts need to be replaced with new OEM ones or passive aftermarket ones.

The car has 5,000 miles, oil temps normal 212F, rpm’s at redline, last service in may.
It’s not notchy going into 3rd. It’s completely locked out. The car isn’t under lateral load that long between turns so there’s only time to try to make the shift in those conditions once or twice more, which are also locked out, but once the lateral loads are lower/gone, the shift goes easily.
I doubt it’s user error since the second and third attempts to get into 3rd are coming from neutral/center of the gate essentially. I’ve been driving on tracks for 20+ years so I’m very comfortable in the environment and not feeling rushed/stressed.
I was wondering about the mounts as well but would be surprised given the low mileage of the car. But failures can happen anytime…
Good ideas and questions so far. Anything else?

worst case your synchros are worn out ... this happened on my '93 RSA G50 box, had to replace them with steel Motorsport parts - but I have never heard of this occurring on a 991 GT3
