It truly comes down to what’s VALUE to you
if you’re trying to solve a heat problem, then front windshield tint is a must as it’s the biggest pane of glass allowing UV/IR in
I tell my clients NOT tinting windshield is like having your A/C ON on a very hot day but all the house windows are open…it’ll be cooler, but not efficient
as for windshield protection, it’s a product unique all it’s own depending on the manufacturer…do some research as some are basically rebranded graffiti film
having both materials on the windshield will distort the view and those with sensitive eyes will notices it
but both products provide a unique solution, but it’s for a problem only YOU can decide if of value
hope this helps

i'm set on not adding ppf to the front windshield but still undecided about tinting it but will likely go for it and if it bothers me i'll remove it

I had 70% tint on my windshield before getting a huge crack from some debris hitting it on the track. It took my local Safelite 2 months to find and obtain the correct OEM replacement windshield. I also specifically booked my install appointment with a Safelite master installer.
Contemplated doing 70% on the new windshield, but decided to spend that money on STEK DYNOflex windshield protection instead which also has 99% UV rejection. I really dislike the idea of removing and sourcing a new windshield since the car is tracked often (something that is inevitable) so I prefer the protection. It's been over 1.5 years with the STEK ppf and no complaints.

I have Crystalline 90, which is essentially clear, on all windows except the windshield. I wanted some heat rejection and UV protection without the look of darker tint. Clicked into this thread because I was curious to read about anyone who tinted their windshield. Might consider doing the windshield someday, but even with the heat we've been getting in SoCal, I'm happy with my current setup.

I have installed now on 3 cars Clearplex Gen 2 nano ceramic windshielf uv block and ppf.
been very happy with it, so far. i would recommend it for both uv block slight tint and ppf for stone
edit- about 500 installed.

I have all glass tinted except the windshield which has a clear UV blocking PPF. I can see a tiny bit of distortion if the sun hits it at just the right angle but it's minor and not distracting. Meanwhile I know it's helping protect my glass, leather dash and keeps it much cooler inside. Would definitely do it again.

STEK Dynoflex windscreen PPF here, had it redone 3 multiple times by 2 different installers to get it to what works for me.
Distortion, glaze, haze and dust trapped under windscreen are all common operator experience related issues.
Comes down to whether they have a clean room to install and also how good they are, our windscreen is not easy to get it right.
