Default Engine lid won't open after Dundon Street headers fitted

Hi 991.2 gt3 experts!

Had Dundon Street Headers fitted, which are good so far, but now the engine lid won't open.

Did open when I collected, but no noise from the solenoid now. Fuse OK, as both brake lights work and is the same fuse for one side, I believe.

Am I right in that there is an emergency cable in one of the front fenders (I'm in the UK, so unsure what side for RHD car), that will open frunk and engine lid?? Need to remove fender liner to access.

Anyone confirm this and advise correct side to dismantle for a RHD car, if different>

Many thanks,

Mark

If I remember correctly you can access the steel wire that opens the latch through the mesh. You need some kind of u pick to pull it and it opens. Hope I’m making sense.

Do you mean the mesh in the rear lid? If so, looking through, it appears to be above the carbon fibre shroud housing the fans, so can't see any cable to pull??

Any other suggestions?

Waiting for the garage to call back who fitted the system, but as they took 8 hours and chewed up 3 lambda sensors, not sure I have much faith.....

Try having someone pull the latch while you try to lift the tail.

Tried that. Look like the switch has packed in (fingers crossed), so getting one ordered.

I’ve taken apart the bumper a few times to install an exhaust (Dundon too) but the only wires I remember unplugging / touching are the tail lights and license plate light. Weird that they touched the rear lid wires

I’ll be back in town in a couple hours. I’ll post up a pic of what I mean in a bit

I took a couple pics. If you shine a light and looks closely through the mesh you will see a steel braided line that connects the latch to the actuator. You need to use a hook to pull it and it will open the latch.

these are the pics I could take

If the cable is disconnected from the inverted Y air intake and NOT reconnected this issue can happen.

I accidentally dislodged this cable in my 2012 C2S while removing the oil filter, which rendered the release actuator useless.
I unknowingly closed the engine lid which required the dealer to removed the bumper to re-attach. I did not witness the work so can't comment on procedure to access the cable with lid stuck closed.

TPG - thanks for the pics, but I think yours is a 3.8. 4.0 has the mesh higher up.

I took it back to the shop that did the install and they believe the switch has failed, so will order and install a new one.

The cable is hopefully in place, but there is no actuator noise, so hopefully the switch is the culprit

Did you sort this? I have same issue and already replaced the switch and checked fuse. I am going to shop tomorrow to manually open but need a full time solution. I assume the latch/actuator is bad or disconnected for some reason.

Hi,
Yes, sorted mine, it was the cabin switch that had failed.
Cheers,
Mark

It was the connector under the rear motor cover for me. It was not fully seated, thus actuator wouldn't function. once I was able to pop it from underneath, plug in the connector correctly, no issues.
