Dropped off my GT4 that I just bought CPOed from a different dealership on a Saturday to inspect a possible exhaust leak and the lack of the audible beep beep when you lock the car. Received no update from the service center on Saturday. I called the following Monday and was told that it will be worked on that day. Called back late afternoon and was told that it'll be work on Tuesday. Received no update on Tuesday. I decided to drive to the dealership to see what's up. The car still was still not worked on. Asked to see the service manager and was greeted by Gunter who told me that the exhaust that showed black soot around a weld seam was normal and the car came from the factory with no audible beeps upon locking. Gunter said that it would cost money for the dealership to reprogram the car to sound the audible beeps. I was greeted with what felt like a don't bother me attitude and no apologies for the delay in servicing the car from Gunter. I wrote an email to Gunter pointing him to the page in the user's manual that stated that two audible beeps would sound upon locking the car.
Took my GT4 to Stevens Creek Porsche. They identified a leak in the exhaust weld seam and replaced it under warranty. They also reprogrammed the audible beeps free of charge.
Not to minimize your experience, but service shop isn't open on Saturdays so it's no surprise they weren't working on your car or replying to emails on the weekend.

I chose Porsche Fremont specifically on that occasion because their service center opens for business on Saturday. I even made an appointment for Saturday ahead of time.

$170 labor I supply the oil & filter. I do work for the dealership so that may not be the regular price.

which dealership? Can we get your discount? Lol

i think the going rate around here is $400 for an oil change with oil and filter. Oil change does involve removing rear diffuser which is over a dozen screws, 3 drain bolts and some of the things are hard to reach with a torque wrench - the filter itself I think. I tried doing it once, couldn’t reach the filter, and decided this isn’t worth the mess and the pain. 997 Carrera in contrast doesn’t even required lifting to get to the single drain bolt if you reach and the filter housing is easily accessible up top in the engine bay

I would say that after the first one it's actually quite easy. I am in no way skilled in these type of things but it's very easy to follow the online videos on how to change the 991 oil, and I have done it every year. For me about $40 total for oil/filter. And convenience as not have to drop car off/ etc every year.

How are you resetting the service reminder or do you have a PIWIS etc ?

I don't even bother to change any of the service reminders b/c I will just get another one as I don't do any of the service at the dealership. I mostly do them myself using online DIY. I have had my car almost 9 years and recently approved to get a new engine, and there was nothing made about the fact that I declined to do all major service (all these declines were noted on my service slips). I do keep online receipts and take pics of all my oil, spark plug, filter changes etc.

.2 RS filter is harder to reach. Not sure how you are getting $40 for parts. For me it’d be $80 oil, $40 filter plus shipping. Minimum $120 plus shipping for parts. The hassle of supporting a diffuser and screwing a dozen plus screws and not being able to reach the filter plus 3 drain bolts some with iffy access for a torque wrench as well

yeah, the RS sounds like PITA. I order all my supplies from FCPEuro and it's free for lifetime after 1st purchase, just need to send back. You can literally send back oil, though i don't do that. I got a good deal on Mobil 1 some years ago and bought a 5 yr supply making it all essentially free. filter is about $5 to ship back and i get it free each time from FCPEuro. doing the same for the 3 other cars I change oil on.

It's interesting reading about people's experiences at different places. Seeing how people get treated, good and bad.

I highly recommend Modderman Service in Mountain View. My 993 has been serviced there for ~20 years, and have always had great experiences.

they cant even fit rear drop links on a 993 correctly 50/50 chance of getting it right or wrong ... epic fail.

I met Cory (from Fremont) personally earlier this week, he's a great guy and certified petrolhead, works on the 918's and CGTs ... good enough for me!
