Default How long does PPF last?

I bought my 2019 GT3RS used and it came fully covered in PPF. I don't know how long it has been on the car but would imagine it was put on shortly after it was purchased by the original owner. It looks to be in perfect condition with no yellowing or imperfections. My question is how long will the current PPF last before I have to have it replaced?

5-10 years, depending on use/ mileage. Lower mileage means less time out in the environment and less damage to the PPF from a cosmetic standpoint. Of course, I'm not sure I'd want PPF removed at 10 years with all the risks that entails vs redoing it at the 5 year mark.

What risk is there removing it at 10 years versus 5 years? Has anyone had an issue removing after 10 years? Why remove PPF that looks great?

PPF becomes brittle over time and makes it more and more difficult to remove cleanly

PPF installed on my 991.1 was seven years old. I noticed a slight yellowing a few years ago. It’s a real PIA ago remove. Cost to install is probably $3k. Cost to remove is probably 2k. Is it worth it spending an extra 5k every 5 years? You can upgrade to a 10 year film, but it’s more expensive…personally, I’m not sure that PPF is worth it for everyone, but probably worth it for those that drive on the track.
