Satin Platinum powder coat?
I'm trying to revert my wheels to the original Satin Platinum color. The code is apparently OB5:

The guy powdercoating them says he can't do color codes, he just has a bunch of swatches I can try match. Did anyone run into this kind of problem before?

I think powdercoating and painting are two separate and different processes and he's right he likely can only match the Porsche OEM color to the nearest color on his powdercoating selection. Other option is to have the wheels spray painted instead of powderocoated and they would be able to to use the exact OB5 color. There are benefits and drawbacks to powder coating vs. painting, I'll let others chime in...

For spraying you can mix pigments together to get a specific color. For powder, you have to order a specific color pre made. And usually you order by the lb with the best pricing for commercial shops being 200+ lbs.

BTW if you powder coat the wheels, discuss the option of a a clear powder on top of the base color powder.
TBH I'd use whatever standard powder color he has available that's close to Satin Platinum. That way in 5 years when you need to repair a wheel, you can match the color easily.
