Dakar as another 911s for GT owners
I will be hopefully getting a Dakar this Spring and will use it alongside my GT 911s, I feel it is complementary to the GT line in terms of use: long trips, daily, bad surface roads, winter, etc ...
Wondering how the GT owners ( supposedly most hardcore 911 users) feel about this variation of the 911 concept at the complete opposite of the spectrum from a track car.

I love it and would love an allocation.

I have a Dakar allocation and I'm also in the fortunate position to currently have the choice between my 1988 911 Carrera Club Sport and 2018 991.2 GT2 RS; quite a contrast - 240bhp vs 700bhp, NA vs Twin Turbo, manual vs PDK, no 'electronic nannies' vs lots of 'electronic nannies'. The Club Sport can be enjoyed at sane speeds on the public road whilst the GT2 RS is hardly awake......
Spoilt for choice 😁
When the Dakar arrives, I will have an even more interesting choice to make!
For me, the Dakar will be my new Daily Driver (current DD is a Panamera GTS to go in part exchange) to be used here in Northern Scotland on our potholed and often snow covered (Winter) roads. I'm really looking forward to the arrival of the Dakar this Spring and believe it will be a great counterpoint to the Club Sport and GT2 RS.

I am somewhat in a similar position, as I have two "nice weather 911s" as well ...
The Touring for trips and track duty when also my wife drives and the 993 GT for special occasions mostly going solo.
Looking forward to use the Dakar mostly in the winter time, sometime to the office or for very long trips not involving track action.
Definitely a different flavour of 911 that will increase the opportunity to leave the everyday car home and drive something more involving.
I would not consider a Cayenne or Macan as they feel too similar to any other SUV.
