Default 991 GT3 Trade-In Value Assessment

I am at the top of the list at a local dealer for a 992 GTS coupe allocation at MSRP. I already passed on the allocation once, but I am seriously considering jumping on it the next time they call if I can get a PTS slot. Assuming I do, I would love to give the dealer an opportunity to make some money on my 991 GT3 to reward their fairness and to build a relationship for the future (I'm a new Porsche customer as I bought my GT3 private party).

That being said, what is a fair trade in value for my car?

2015 GT3
Carrara White Metallic
CPO until 9/22
19,600 miles
Full service records, all services up to date
Original F-series engine
Cup 2s at 4/32 all around
Extended leather
Red betls
FAL
Sound Package Plus
Auto dim mirrors
PCM/NAV
PDLS
Full car XPEL PPF and Ceramic Coating
Clean Carfax, no paintwork, etc.

Car does NOT have: PCCB, carbon buckets, 18-ways, XM radio, or Bose

This trade would be in PA, so I get a tax credit for the trade in amount. Any insight is appreciated!

Take a look here: Looks like average sale price is around 133K (that is sale price not trade in price) - so figure whatever your assumption on what the dealer will want to make on it and go from there.

You can also go to cars.com and do a search and compare current prices.

It also will vary by dealer as well - my buddy has a low milage 2018 911 GTS (average sale price is 140K) - one dealer offered him 107K (which was horribly low), another dealer was 130K as they wanted inventory. He could have likely got another 10K privately, but was also trading in for his new 992 (so wanted the tax break which in Ohio would be ~15K at the tax rate here) - so easy choice.

The market is also softening a bit (not a ton yet, but prices are starting to go down slightly) - just be prepared as it probably will not be close to what you are hoping for with a little higher milage and missing some key options (buckets / PCCBs)...

Assuming your dealer wants to make at least 20k on a trade in resale, my guess is they could offer you a price as low as 105-110k.

I think 105k is absolutely ridiculous as a low-ball, but I know that’s what a NY dealer offered me for a trade for my 991. And I could probably get 135k+ for mine in a private sale.

Personally, I think you’re leaving a lot on the table…just my 2 cents.

Yeah for 105 I would absolutely sell on my own. Knowing they would likely sell CPO at 145-150, I was thinking 130 trade would be fair. That gives me 140sih towards the new car with the tax savings. Much less than that and I would sell privately. Thanks for the input.

Thanks for the link. A good starting point. The last 6 months of sales is at 141 average.

I was offered 118k as a trade-in in December 2021 from a Porsche dealer for similar specs as yours, but with 31k miles and 18 ways.

A boutique dealer then offered me 132.5k, which I took. I had my car listed at 138k for a couple of months at that point. The car is still sitting with yet another dealer listed at 139k (likely went to auction)

If you want the car to move, you’ll have to price it aggressively I think. You might fare better since you have lower miles and CPO than mine.

don’t forget to add -$5k auction fee. Most if not all those sales are auction sales.

As I mentioned - just set your expectations, you will likely be highly disappointed with what they offer you.. You will need to shop around to get anything close to that IMO - however privately right now, I think you could do that (130K) or maybe better., though options and miles may be a distractor, for a trade in - not likely as you are leaving very little for them, they will not buy from you with a 10K upside, as their carry/floor cost will eat into that.

And if you are going to move - move quickly as the prices are starting to trickle down a bit, financing is getting more expensive, etc. We passed the peak about 3 months ago, and it is going to come down, likely a lot over the next 6-9 months.

Logic vs. emotion, I think. I don't track the car and I would enjoy getting a new car in the exact spec I want. GTS would be a little more comfy for longer trips (I do about 5-7K miles a year and might do more in a GTS). But giving up the GT3 engine wail isn't easy! And no, I cannot find a GT3 allocation at MSRP. Not an easy decision and I haven't made up my mind. A PTS GTS build might sway me enough.

I would be guessing it is hard to find a GTS with no ADM as well, I am not aware of any at the current time (even my dealer for Targa's and GTS's are asking for an ADM) and they were the last hold outs I was aware off.

Would you configure the GTS with buckets? If not, I'd take a hard look at the C2S.

I spent a considerable amount of time in one at PEC earlier this month and loved it and thought it would be a fantastic all-around car, road tripper, little one in the back, etc. It was no slouch in the quick department either.

As stated in the original post, I have a GTS coupe allocation at MSRP. And I know that's a rarity.

I drove the 7M C2S at PEC as well. Great car. Yes, I would do the lightweight package in the GTS and prefer the racetex in the GTS interior package. For me, the extra money is well spent on the GTS (at MSRP).
