Default Rear wheel steering failure light

I own a 2015 GT3. The other day upon starting the car the dashboard threw a yellow warning light indicating “rear wheel steering failure." Anyone else in this forum? What was it? My car is in the shop. Thanks.

The only time I got that was when I trailered the car about 600 bumpy miles with cross straps on the wheels. ABS, PSM and other warnings came on, too. Everything went away as soon as I got the car off the trailer and drove it a few feet. Needless to say, I have never placed straps on the wheels again

I've trailered my car over 10 times. I haven't had any issues with my steering although I don't cross my straps.

Did you have an extended service contract from EasyCare or Fidelity?

I literally just got this warning light this morning, just when inserting key. I just pulled out the key and started the car and it went away. after driving 30 miles, nothing. Also 2015 GT3. I am taking this will not be covered by the 10 yr extended warranty? I checked and others apparently say it could be from a weak battery?

Its most likely a low voltage battery or a poor connection. If its been laid up for a good while and the battery has gone into sleep mode all kinds of warning lights go off specifically the Rear axle steering faulty message. I know this because it happened to my 2019 RS in March last year after not being driven for about four months due to the Covid lockdown.
Its the most likely cause IMO

7.5k, used about 100 mikes a month, never tracked or hit anything.

No, my financial background keeps me from buying extended warranties, would have been helpful here!

Left rear wheel steering assembly had to be replaced, $3.8k as estimated, plus 10 days in the shop. The part had to be ordered and came from California,

That is what the shop originally thought, they cleared the code but it kept coming back up. Battery is fine. At the end the steering assembly had to be replaced.
