Default An Introduction, and another "My First GT3!" Post

Hey all --

I'm Neel, an aerospace engineer in the Seattle, WA area. I recently took the plunge on my first Porsche, a GT3, coming from the world of Japanese imports. I thought I'd say "hi," and share some pics!

It's a '15 991.1 GT3. As far as these cars go, it's a pretty basic spec, which is just fine with me -- white over standard black interior, xenon PDLS, axle lift, extended tank, sport chrono, light design package, etc. etc.). At 18,000 miles, the car is still on it's original F0 engine for now. I'm looking forward to hopefully changing that, and already have my first track day on the books for March 26!

I'm the third owner, having purchased this car from Grand Prix Motors in Portland, OR in early Nov '21. I was actually in the area for a concert, and wanted to swing by and look at a few 718 GT4s, having seen a bunch of Porsche listings at this dealer. However, this car caught my eye, I noticed it had only a marginally higher asking price than a GT4, and one thing sort of led to another...

The previous owner was kind enough to have installed some lava orange LWBS from an RS in place of the original 18-way sofas. People may have their own thoughts on the non-original equipment, but I'm definitely loving the ergonomics and the interior color pop against the otherwise monochromatic panda scheme.

The GT3's current stablemate (I know, sweet Honda mower, right?!). The car came with an IPE center section and side deletes which are noticeable below. It sounds fairly nice, but I suppose I'll have to keep an eye on it for any cracking or quality issues.

In the time since it got delivered, I've just been driving it as often as I can, just appreciating it for the absolute thrill of a vehicle that it is.

All this being said, I'm glad to be here, and hope to contribute to this community going forward!

Congrats! You're going to love it out on the track, it's really something else.

Also, I'm sure many of us started with Japanese cars. You're screwed now and there's no going back.

First, I would like to second this. The 300ZX Z32 is one of the most beautiful cars to come from Japan and (IMHO) will be just as fresh and beautiful in 10 years as the day it rolled off the line. Fantastic cars.

And then the next thing is CONGRATS! and WELCOME! I'm also a white over black GT3 owner, they are great cars and I know you will enjoy yours as much as I'm enjoying mine.

Congratulations on your new car! The buckets seats are a great addition too. I'm in the PNW as well, maybe we'll see you around. Cheers!

I love it when one says on its original F0 engine for now hopefully going to change that. Please share with us the secret of blowing an engine so the rest of us can just go out and destroy our engines
