Installed a set of GT4RS strakes that I ordered from Suncoast (link). The install was very straightforward and only required minor modifications to the side strakes to fit (more details on the install in this thread)
Two years of ownership! Hard to believe its almost 2023 - time really does fly by. Still very much in love with the car and looking forward to more miles next year.
As far as updates go...
Dropped the car off for the four year service at Porsche Fremont. Mentioned this already but if anyone in the bay area needs your car serviced, I highly recommend seeing Michelle Gent at Porsche Fremont.
Saw this gorgeous blue GT3 in the showroom (not sure what blue this is(
Did some more driving...
and picked up a set of BBS FI-R. can't wait to put these on the car!
I've always thought the 991.1 RS hood paired so well with the standard gt3. Getting one was always on my list but i really hate dealing with paint so i never pulled the trigger. As luck would have it, @JCR-Porsche posted a used one for sale that happened to be painted chalk + was already wrapped in ppf!
Pictures of the hood and all the glorious carbon
Installed!
The center vane really adds a subtle but aggressive touch to the car 😍
One thing I did notice during the install is that the edges of the hood do sit slightly raised compared to my stock hood. I posted about this in another thread but it seems like it might be expected.
Big shout-out to JCR for the killer deal on this hood and a very smooth transaction. Really really happy with how this came out
February was a busy month! Also managed to get the BBS FI-Rs installed
I purchased these used and the finish wasn't my first choice but I absolutely love how this turned out. The finish on the wheels goes so well with chalk imo.
How much weight reduction does the hood provide relative to stock Aluminum? I'm also debating a similar thing in case there is another one already painted in chalk for sale

My measurement came in around a 5lb difference (JCR's website lists 2.58kg lighter). I was expecting more but from what I understand the 991.2 RS hood is significantly lighter compared to the .1

Behind on updates, but better late than never!
The shop that installed my wheels, to my dismay, used an impact wrench on the centerlocks. This didn't sit well with me (also lesson learned on having any shop touch the centerlocks on these cars) so I decided to take everything off and retorque the wheels by hand. This was my first time taking the wheels off by myself so had to get the proper tools (shoutout to dumpspec for the torque wrench and smokingts for the alignment tool)
Since the wheels were off anyways, I decided to take apart/inspect/clean the centerlock nuts. I think I went through a whole roll of shop towels doing this:
Also ceramic coated the wheels while I was at it:
After everything was buttoned up, went for a well deserved drive
Hard to believe another year has gone by! Once again I've been bad with updates but here are some to close out the year
RS Door Pulls
I've wanted door pulls for as long as I've had the car but, unfortunately, Porsche didn't make this a straightforward swap. This was very much an experiment and I'm very happy with how these came out - will post a diy at some time.
This is the piece that's needed to fit the door pull - unfortunately Porsche does not sell these separately. I ended up sourcing these from a pair of junked door panels.

Dundon Titanium Muffler
I've been running Dundons headers and loud mufflers for awhile now and absolutely love how it sounds. Decided to pull the trigger on the titanium muffler so I could have the same sound without the weight.
The craftsmanship on this thing is ridiculous. Could not believe how light it was!
Comparison with the stainless loud muffler
The tips actually stick out a tad bit more than the stainless version. Really dig how it looks
I also opted for the loud inserts but did not install them initially. After driving around with just the titanium muffler for a bit, I decided to install the loud inserts.
Impressions:
The titanium muffler sounds very different from the stainless version. Without the loud inserts, it's much tamer imo. The most noticeable aspect is the pitch - the stainless has a very deeper sound.
The loud inserts help close the gap in terms of sound. With these installed, I would say the volume (valves opened) is similar to the stainless. With the valves closed, the sound is much quieter. Win win!
