Default Do you let other people drive your GT cars?

Just curious how many of us would let another person drive one of our GT cars?

Depends on the person, situation, etc. Have let a couple of friends drive mine. Twice was switching off, I drove a friends car, he drove mine. Was just cruising around. Another time I let a friend drive it and I rode as a passenger. This past summer a friend let me drive his Ferrari and he drove my GT3. Was cool to compare and contrast the two experiences. My friends know that I'm particular about my cars and that I'd rather them not drive it hard. I'm a believer that you can get a good feel for someone else's car driving at very normal speeds. However, there's a lot more that comes into the situation. If someone hits someone while driving your car, I have to imagine that is possibly going to come back on you, the owner of the car, along with the friend that is driving. But if people would not have let me drive their cars, I'd have a much harder time knowing the types of cars that I do and don't like today.

Only time someone drove one of my GT cars was due to an emergency when a friend got in a bad accident and i accompanied them to the hospital.
I let another GT car owner take my car and his wife drove his car back to the lodge. I didn't think twice.

I let any of my car enthusiast friends drive my GT3 and any of my other cars, toys are meant to be shared with friends.

I feel more comfortable letting someone I know drive the car with me in the passenger seat than I do letting tech's drive it at the dealer when I'm not there.

Absolutely if they're car guys.

"Its my ball, it's my bat, it's my glove" is something the annoying kid would do when we were just trying to play some ball in an open field.

In 1989 our neighbour took me (19y) with with his brand new Ferrari 348 for a drive - after 10 minutes he said to me: Now you can drive...this was one of the best moments in my life...

Now I have some nice toys and when I have a good time with other car guys, I offer them a short drive with my cars to make them happy.

Offered the Car to best friends & dad for a testdrive with me on the side.

In September this year my GT3 failed during a track day (PDK died). A good track fellow and car enthusiast gave me the key of his brand new 992 GT3 for a stint. This is trust. Car is still alive ;DDDD

I let my son take out all of my cars without me. He drives manual cars more than automatic and he also used to do competitive karting so I trust him. I let him take my GT4 for a track day at Laguna Seca. But besides that I really don’t let anyone drive my cars especially without me in it. I let my nephew drive my 991 RS, but only because it’s an automatic.

The people I’m around, they are just courteous enough not to ever ask. Ask for a ride of course, great. No problem there. But I’m just never in the position where I have to answer that question fortunately. If I had to answer the question I would always say no.

Friends who are trustworthy and excellent drivers, yes. It still makes me nervous, of course, but part of the fun of ownership of a car like this is sharing the experience with others who can really appreciate it. Their reactions are priceless, and there have certainly been times in my life when if someone had offered to let me drive their supercar, it would have been incredible and unforgettable, so it's nice to be able to provide that experience for someone else.
