Not sure, David.

But I would certainly look into it. At least with respect to time in the shop, you seem to certainly qualify.

I would presume you are still within the OEM warranty period?

Will go thru the process until I get a new PDK. Just frustrating how Porsche puts you thru this process that doesn't seem to fix the problem.

Update: car still waiting for install of engine. Parts are there but tech is under Covid quarantine. Car waits until his return.
Did Laguna last weekend with "rental" cars. A Cayman and a Boxster. Both fun but SLOW. Attachment 1323603

There is a bulletin on the PDK. At least for my RS. It warns of leaking PDK and shows where to check. If there is a tiny drop of oil oozing out of the area, it's ok apparently. But if there are multiple drops, it's a sign of issue. My service manager walked me under the car while on a lift and showed me the area.

My leak results in puddles under the car. Definitely not OK. Hope to get the car back next week. Will have to do some testing to ensure the "fix" is durable as they are replacing the axel seals. I'm not optimistic as this hasn't work in 3 other cases of people I know.

Since I (in the OP's words) am one of those whose car is "gently street driven to CC", I hadn't given the issue of a leaking PDK much thought.

Until today, when the shop doing my PCA pre-event tech inspection pointed out that my 991.2 GT3 PDK was leaking. Specifically, the pan appears to be wet everywhere. I hadn't noticed any puddles, but I had been noticing that the shift quality seemed a little clunky lately (on a car with 10K miles, with some "CC" track driving).

I'll call the dealer (still under warranty), but I'm wondering if I should scrub my track day this weekend.

Please do NOT take it to the track like that it could be very dangerous for others, too many of these failing.

FWIW attached is a service bulletin (obsolete, from 2012) give instructions for diagnosing PDK leaks. It lists at least 20 different potential leak sites, and the repair procedure for the majority seems to be to replace the transmission.

Nice Info.

I got the car back after they replaced the axel seals and the flywheel. I stress tested it with some launches but no leak. Three days later I idled the car for 10 minutes, which reproduced the leak! Car was taken back in and PNA FINALLY allowed Porsche SD to replace the PDK. I should have it back Wednesday, just in time for the PCA SDR TT at Big Willow this weekend.
So all told the car has been out of commission since mid May. 🙄

Got the car back with a new PDK and participated in a Time Trail this past weekend at Big Willow. Car performed like nothing happened. Trimmed over a second off my best. Still have another second or so out
