Default Compression clips on mesh frame removal

One of the mesh grills protecting one of the rads on my Touring popped out of the frame when the lip of my spoiler jammed into my lift ramp. Anyway..no damage other than it popped out the mesh grill and I have to reinstall. The only way to access the fasteners of the pressure plate of the frame which meets the grill is to remove the front bumper cover which I did tonight however these blasted clips which hold the frame tight to the bumper cover are a **tch to remove so I can get enough gap to reinstall the mesh. Has anyone replaced these grills and successfully managed to loosen the frames? I am missing something obvious for sure because it surely can’t be this difficult.

This picture is taken from the inside of the bumper cover so you know what I am talking about….silver things on the left being two of the seven clips I am trying to remove.

Thanks for any help
