Yes, another first world question for the forum. Currently have a highly optioned (MSRP $190K+) manual Chalk 991.2 GT3 + '20 Macan GTS...have opportunity to pick up a manual 718 PTS Boxster Spyder but due to space constraints need to stick with 2 cars, including a DD in Chicago with occasional kid transport duty so GT3 would have to go for a 992 C4S PDK. I’m not a track rat- perhaps two DE’s at Road America annually; daily commute is 40 highway miles in western suburbs of Chicago. Thanks for any and all opinions!
Keep ur current setup. The Spyder isn’t a gt3. I have a 992 and 991.2 gt3 and they aren’t even comparable. I’m in Chicago too so hit me up in the PMs if u wanna compare notes.
Haven't driven the 992 of any flavor- have only watched youtube reviews of the new C4S which seems to be a great DD but as a pure driving experience I have to think the manual GT3 is a scalpel in comparison. Am a little leery of the 718 Spyder manual transmission gearing- in some ways the PDK may be superior. Wish the Macan GTS had the 4.0 L V8 but it's not to be...perhaps adding the Pedal Commander may be enough to juice it a bit. Drove the Taycan 4S recently and loved it but the Macan feels more spacious and probably a better DD...decisions decisions
As an aside, just visited my best friend of 35 yrs this weekend in Paradise Valley, AZ. We both went into medicine, but he's an entrepreneur at heart...which explains his fleet which includes a 918 (liquidmetal silver), 911R (gt silver sans stripes), 991 GT2RS (olive green), 991 Speedster (meerblau), 2 991.2 GT3RS (fashion gray, white), 3 Pistas (white, red, blue), F12 TDF (yello) Bentley something or another, G65, etc. Got to drive the 911R...wow.
The GT3 in my opinion is the obvious car to keep. It’s optioned exactly how you like it and is always going to deliver. If you’re growing tired of the Macan how about trying a new Defender. Could be a perfect all around duty vehicle for Chicago and kids. There is no mercy driving on 90 or 94, let alone in the city so anything with much power is moot as all you see is the Blue line pass you by.
Definitely keep current setup...
There is a CarGuys Youtube video which exactly answers your question, namely GT3 is on a different planet vs. GT4
Here it is:
Thanks all...the 718 spyder is the intersection of the shiny-new-toy / absence makes the heart forget (gt3 in winter storage) / grass is greener over yonder phenomena. That gt4 vs gt3 comparo was particularly insightful. Much appreciated!

I could never go back to C2 (or C4) from a GT3
I too would ditch the Macan, get the Spyder and buy a crappy outside car for kid transport occasions

I don't see why would anybody who owns a GT3 swap a Macan (SUV) for a Spyder (tiny sports car). I get the Syder is a cool thing to have but I would only pick it over the GT3 on some beautiful day or evening when I had nowhere to really go. Sounds ideal but I, in real life RARELY happens. I have a GT3 but use my Macan Turbo as my daily. With two Porsches why would someone daily in an outside-kept crappy car? I live in San Diego and even on a 50 degree morning I want to use the garage-kept vehicles. Jump in a freezing "crappy" car in a Chicago winter while walking past a couple of toasty Porsches? F-no!
