Default GT2 RS Oil & Water Temps

GT2 RS owners, what are you seeing for water and oil temps both on street and track? Just curious they seem to run higher than the 3RS.

The newer engines are getting hotter. The new NA 4.0L in the 718 GTS, GT4, Spyder is said to run around 235F coolant, 278F oil on the street. I think it's to pass emissions (burns off exhaust gas more thoroughly or something like that).

What temps are you seeing?

Define higher - my 3RS steady state is 90 degrees celsius, on track generally increases to around 110 degrees C (winter - oil temps)

My GT3T runs in the mid 180s water and high 180s to low 190s for the oil in normal street driving. If I am driving hard, oil will get to 215 and water in the 190s. 180s seems low to me. Is that normal? I have had the therostat replaced under warranty.

My Touring runs at those same temps, unless driving hard, or very hot day. Rarely have I seen much over 200 for either water or oil.

GT3 Oil gets to 235F on track, but rarely over 200F otherwise. Coolant is 175F cruising and 200-210 in hot standing traffic.

Sorry I'll convert to sanskrit - 194F at steady state and 230F on track.

Better than new 420 hp 718 4.0L. For a 700 hp motor, doesn’t sound too unreasonable.

Nizer,

I have a 2018 GT2RS and drive the snot out of it on the track. Recently I have been seeing 260+F oil temperatures at the end of a great lap. I could swear it never got over 235F before and I am wondering if something has broken. Water reasonable at 207 when i saw the 260 oil. What is your experience on the track?? All exchangers are clear (had them cleaned but really had minimal obstruction), oil changed monthly or after maybe 10 track days. Coolant is new, thermostat is new, intercoolers clear and sprayers working just fine. Using about 1 gallon per session of distilled water. No messages and dealer can't seem to find anything wrong.

Just as a point of reference, that "sanskrit" put a man on the moon...all of Apollo was done with zero metric usage as is all current American stealth F plane Engineering

Are you in "sport" or "sport plus" when you are seeing those temps? I understand additional cooling occurs when in either sport mode.

The 981 Clubsports have water temps in the 230+ range and oil in the 260+. So long as you stay below 290 oil and 245 water, you are fine. At 300 oil and 250 water you need to slow to cool the car.

As my wife says: Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should.
