Default Wrecking on Track

Assuming only the car got hurt, and it was towed to the paddock, and the driver has open track full coverage (car & track damage), what next? Where should it be towed? How/when do you settle with the track? When do you need to report it to open track? What if it’s totaled or not totaled? Appreciate learning from those who have been there. What would you do?

You call them from the track and they will tell you where to take it.
They pay, no bullshet. I know someone personally that I have seen crash two cars myself and they paid twice, twice no games.

ive been a customer for maybe 6 years or so.
ive also bought 1M liability and international coverage.

Thankfully never had to use but we’ve followed up with people less lucky to make sure.
I have an annual policy now they just extended for free for a month due to CV19.

Seems like annual is the way to go if you track 6+ times a year.

Do not take the offer to drop your car in a culvert somewhere.

I unfortunately have a friend who also had to claim, car was totaled and opentrack paid with no issue. the most important first step is to file an incident report with whomever is running the track day to document what happened.

I think the break-even point is perhaps closer to 8 times per year, but the deductible is half as much with annual policy (so they pay more in a claim).

Depends on the value you are insuring. For me it was more than 8

Rarely, if ever.

That's because almost always a claim is not filed against the track.

A friend totaled her car and open track paid with no issue.
She also received a hefty bill for multiple sections of damaged Armco and had to pay the track. I don’t think it was covered with open track.

My break even was 9 events. When I was doing 20+/year it was a no brainer. Their single event policy was also the best price last time i comparison shopped.

The open track liability insurance would have covered the Armco cost (less deductible of course)

Open Track is the name of the company many have used including me.
Ive also used them for single event insurance if I’m not doing enough days to justify the annual policy.
Prior to Open Track I used ontrackinsurance. When I shopped the options including lockton, hagerty, etc I found ontrackinsurance to be most cost effective. The principle is also a track driver and RL guy.
