Default I picked up an RS. Left speechless.

I purchased my first P car three years ago. After a long search I ended up with a 997.2 GTS. Car was awesome. Came from the factory with GT2 buckets, good spec, full aero, beige interior (yikes). The car sounded great, good drive, steering. Running cost was 3 oil changes in 3 years, and new tires.

Then I traded it in for a 991.1 GT3 RS.

I'm blown away by this car. I just can't believe how good it is. It feels like an S-class compared to the 997. The Chassis is out of this world. So compliant, so supple, and this is an RS!! I absolutely love it and can't believe I'm so lucky to own this car. What can I possibly say about this car that hasn't been said already. Sometimes I ponder why there is a .2 RS. How can a company improve on perfection? And my friends tell me that car is even better.

Only mods I'm making are: GT3 RS decal on the side, magnetic licence plate holder (can't stand off centre), and maybe a bypass, although the stock sounds really really good.

Here it is:

Congratulations.

I don't regret the upgrade to the .2 GT3RS, but knowing what I know now, the .2 is marginally better on a racetrack, and worse on the streets. My .1 GT3RS with Akrapovic headers, the stock side anchors deleted, and the stock Titanium center muffler sounded great and it was quicker (Vbox tested) than my .2 GT3RS on the stock exhaust (I have to sell those headers, as the current car is on Dundon).

I think the .1 looks better than the .2, the front bumper looks better, the wing end plates look better, the side intakes look better, and the fender louvers being more subtle look better too. On equal wheels/tires on my local track, I lap 0.7 secs faster (using 4 fast lap averages), that's significant on an 82-83secs lap, but driving skills and conditions produce a much higher gap than 0.7 secs, the difference between these cars on lap times comes down to who's driving.

In the rewarding feeling, the 991.1 GT3RS is fantastic, plenty of feedback, the .2 is a little better, but that doesn't remove how awesome the .1 GT3RS is.

Backup camera, Apple Play, I do have those in the .2, and I don't recall to use them at all. And I much prefer the real glass in the .1 GT3RS, and not the foggy plastic Gorilla glass that's so painful to clean.

Congrats, beautiful car and like you I went from a GTS (991.1) to an RS back in August. Ditto everything you've said and just wait until you get it on a track.

If I'm not mistaken you were trying to sell your GTS for quite a while? Recall seeing it on Autotrader and the Marketplace here... very unique spec, don't think I've seen another with that interior setup. Also a lovely car that hopefully goes to a good home.

I’ve had every 991 gt car and the 991.1 struck the perfect balance. More than any other one.

get a Dundon exhaust - street headers and loud muffler. It will make the car so much better.

Congratulations! As a fellow .1 RS owner I can relate to everything you posted. I too saw your for sale ad and admire the GTS. However, as great as that car is, I'm confident the RS will surprise you as you learn what it can do.

Cheers

Congrats! Beautiful car. If it were mine, I'd leave it looking just like that, without the side stickers. Looks perfect, almost like a Cup car with no livery.

The RS is way beyond my driving capabilities but just driving the 997 back to back with the 991 and it's just night and day. Can't wait to drive all summer and see its limits. Thanks!

Default Congrats on a great car!

I find myself doing late night sprints in mine as we recently had twins. So no time during the day to drive. So I long for the hot days ripping up farmland roads. And every-time I turn the car on, back it up and head out. It puts a huge smile on my face as if I just bought the car.
