Default CLW Locking Mechanism Parts

So, I performed my brake flush Monday. As I was inspecting all the critical parts, I notice that the locking mechanisms were showing some signs of rust on the retaining clamp. The springs looked to be in good shape. Does anyone have a source for the component parts of the locking mechanism. Just to be clear, I am referring to the insert locking mechanism, not the CL nut.

Thanks in advance.

I don’t think they are available separately- hopefully, they are at least included when you buy new Centerlocks (the bolt mechanism)...

So before I spend $182 per locking mechanism to replace a 1 cent part, I will use a fine wire airplane cable tie. It will work just as well and won't rust, what a scam. I have flown airplanes for 30 years and never had a problem with a stainless steel wire tie to secure a bolt.

Is it the spring in this part that is corroded

Frank I have never seen corrosion on these parts, by chance have you been running without the center lock caps installed?

One of mine had very light superficial rust (mark red) that I cleaned without any other problems.

The rust I am seeing pertains to the retaining C clamp on the opposite side of the above picture. It appears that the spring is made of stainless but the C clamp is not. The C clamp holds together the three parts to this locking device, the spline, the inner spring and the body that contains it.

I have never driven the car with the Center Caps removed despite some track tech folks insisting that they had to be removed so they could visually inspect that the lock was in the proper position.

I've seen a few cases of this both 991 and 997. Of these the clip corrosion was light and we just cleaned up and reused. I always check and clean the area whenever swapping wheels. Old thread on the issue: https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...enterlock.html

If they will not clean up and need replacing I am sure you can buy new C clips on the open market. Find a shop that specializes in metric fasteners and parts.

997-361-187-00 is the part number for the c clip.

Thanks to all that have helped out - I ordered the C clamp Gaudin for $8. Moral of this story, ask the RL experts.

The rust comes from the wheel hub, not the locking mechanism. Moisture between the CL and the wheel hub doesn't have a place to go, so the hubs rust, and it is normal on all cars.

However, the CL locking piece (picture above) back end gets close to the hub, and rust from the hub carries over the C-clip mounted in the back of the lock. I have had 3 991s with CL, and they all rusted the hubs. At the track, I usually point out to other drivers to use anti-rust paste on the actual hub after a good clean.

Thank you for this, any recommendation on anti-rust paste to use.
