Do you s**k at getting your car centered on a lift?
As mentioned elsewhere, I recently got a Twin-Busch low-rise scissor lift for working on my GT3 (mostly for wheel changes):
Works great, but my DD (2007 Honda Odyssey minivan woo hoo) is so wide, that in order to get the lifting points safely onto the platform, the car's got to be centered within about 3/4 of an inch. Which is hard, at least for me.
and it made this a snap. Set it up with the vertical bean centered on the lift, then center the beam on a midline feature inside the car as you drive on.
I do. And more pics of this setup would be very helpful. Where do you position the laser?
Great idea. My lift is an Atlas Garage Pro 8000 and I have just a couple of inches on either side of my rear tires to clear the edges of the uprights. Always nervous about it tearing a hole in a tire.
Great idea. I’m always nervous about this. Can you post pictures of how you set this up? I also found a cheaper variant on Amazon. Would this work?
Tacklife SC-L01-50 Feet Laser Level Self-Leveling Horizontal and Vertical Cross-Line Laser - Magnetic Mount Base and Carrying Pouch, Battery Included
OP: Great idea.
Anyone makes a remote controlled version? I park one of my car on the ramps of a mid rise lift. Dont want to get out of the car to turn the laser on every time coming back into the garage...yes I am lazy.

I temporarily mounted the laser on a shelf -- it comes with a really nice clamp. Key is to let the pendulum float so that the vertical plane is true. Then move the laser laterally and in rotation until the plane bisects the baseplane of the lift. Bigger pictures:
And here is a diagram. You should position it vertically so that the horizontal plane is above the roof of the car, so the vertical plane shines down into the interior. Diagrams:
With regard to the laser type, more dollars gets you more intensity, which is helpful.

That laser is powered by two AA batteries -- presumably you could use a battery eliminator connected to your garage door opener illumination circuit.
tubwreck what material are those small ramps on the floor.
Wood -- fabricated from 2x2 stringers with half-inch plywood deck. I bent some sheet metal to hook the platforms to the lift base. I still need to raise the FAL to get the car onto the lift, but they do provide enough room to get hockey pucks under the lift points.
I have a mirror on the front wall of the garage in line with the drivers side ramp. I can see the wheel position on the ramp when I pull in. Nail it every time for every car.

Dont have a picture handy. Mirror is about 12" wide and 3' high. Leans on the wall in line with the drivers side ramp. When you drive up you can see the tire on the ramp and adjust accordingly. Very simple!
