Happy to see the good outcome and a relatively simple solution. 9k miles in mine, haven't seen this problem, only slight notchiness when cold that disappears when car is warm.

I had a similar issue which eventually developed into a grind when engaging sixth - dealer solution is new trans, scheduled for later this year hopefully

shifting from 6th to 5th on a freeway offramp?
how slow are you going?
why are you in such a high gear at such slow speeds?

What does that matter? His problem still exists.

could this have contributed to the problem?

I know lugging an engine repeatedly can cause harm

Lugging the engine could cause problems to the bottom end of the motor, not the trans.

thanks appreciate the response.. thats now 2 confirmed with a transmission changed for something that sounds very similar in terms of symptoms.

and for the person asking about lugging the engine. I didnt say i was always in 6th and the engine is not lugging at 70 or 80mph.

31k on the car and the only issue I’m having is getting into 1st gear. I bled the clutch and it didn’t help. Thought I had worn out the shifter cables so I did the whole numeric package and the problem persisted.

A couple of months ago I decided to install some Speigler brake lines and had to bleed the brakes and for some reason the problem went away for a while. The problem came back and I’m just going to live with it. Other than this issue the transmission is great. Even Chris Harris pointed out he was having issues getting into 1st gear on his personal car.

I took my second drive Sunday, around 100 miles and a lot of shifting, and it was great. Happy ending!
What dealer did you end up going to that resolved the issue? I’m in the greater Houston area as well.
