Default engine control fault......

ok to drive

wth is this, i have a my15. this came on about 2 weeks ago, so i parked it and the next morning it was not on, drove it for probably 20 miles, zero issues. got in the car a day or two later and it came on and stayed on, took it to my dealer and left for a day. they cleared the fault and said nothing was wrong, probably from not driving the car. well i drove it twice since with zero issues, probably put 100 miles on the car, drove great, well, it came on last night so i parked it and got up today and its still on

any thoughts on this, also the car drives like always with this light on, i cannot tell any difference

What code is it throwing? If you don’t have one you can get a cheap code reader on amazon.

I have
this one this one
It works really well.

I had mine throw a code from disconnecting the battery when I removed the seats to install my Trackspec brackets.

Check your gas cap. See if the seal is nice and there isn't any $hit on it.

That annoying yellow fault code can be triggered by something as simple as a bad gas cap. It's the cause for most of this kind of maddening intermittent fault.

Could be intermittent. Mine was a faulty radiator fan.

get the fault code from the dealer. on my '16 the post cat O2 sensor kept reading just below the lower limit of what the computer considered normal and would fault for a low flow of the secondary air injection system at startup even though there was nothing wrong. you may need the latest software update.

I have had that fault code twice. Both times I filled with gas from the same service station. A convenience store chain that most likely get's their gas from the cheapest source. My SA told me to drive the car and then add gas from my regular brand name station. Both times the code disappeared 10-15 miles after. I haven't filled up there since and have had no fault codes.

Could be a misfire from a bad coil or bad spark plug. I had that happen twice, once with each issue. No new engine for me. Is there a different dealer you can go to or only one in your area?
