Default Considering a move from a Carrera T to a GT3 T?

Hey guys - for some good conversation I'm posting this. I've had the opportunity to jump into a 991.2 GT3 T, perfect colour, spec etc... but hold on a sec. I'd be selling the fleet (2011 987.2 Spyder and 2019 Carrera T) to make the move. Some of you have sold your 3-T's and bought CT's, or even purchased a CT in addition to the 3-T, right? Am I nuts in even considering this?

I'm a driver, not a collector, and would be driving 3-T on the off days from my 2010 Golf (the perfect DD companion to a Porsche), when the weather and traffic were good. So not a garage queen, nor a track bi#$TCH, nor a DD.

What I don't want is to make this move and then sit and marvel at this beautiful, slightly rare, 3-T and not drive it. How many of you guys drive your GT3's / 3-T's on a regular basis? Anyone putting on some miles?

Thoughts anyone?

Thanks in advance, please humour me, the winter slow-driving months are super bad for my PADD.

I've owned several GT# cars and numerous other 911s (including a Carrera T). The GT3 Touring is easily the finest Porsche I've owned and I would trade those cars you listed in for a GT3T in a heartbeat. That's a no-brainer upgrade imo. When you are driving in your Touring, you won't think about those other cars for even a minute. In fact, the looks and exhaust note will get you there even before you drive.

You may miss the Spyder for its open air experience, but otherwise the Touring is a big upgrade (particularly if you enjoy track driving or intend to do in the future).

Given it's the perfect spec/color I'd go for it. Carrera T is super cool but the GT3T is amazing.

I don't think you'll regret it. I drove the Carrera T and liked it a lot, but the GT3T is in a league of its own and IMO a perfect fit for what you described as your usage.

Giddy up!!!!. I would do it in a heartbeat.

You can always find another Carrera T but a "Touring" spec'd to you liking not an easy find.

It would be hard for me to give up a spyder and a T for a GT3 — mainly because I love topless motoring. Also, as far as commuting, I know you have a daily, but honestly the GT3T sort of is not great for normal use. It’s doable, but I found my 993 cab and lotus to be better commuters/grocery getters/daily use etc. T to touring, no doubt that’s an upgrade, but I can’t live without a topless sports car and I hear the spyder is great so that would weigh on me. The GT3 is a phenomenal vehicle and I have put nearly 5000 miles on mine in almost a year, but it is, to me, so special that it seems wasted on normal drives and every pothole, speed hump, stones on the interstate, not going near salt or snow etc bothers me whereas I could probably drive a T every day and a spyder on every nice day. On the other hand, for a nice drive alone or with a group the GT3 is amazing and the feedback I get on my GT3 from others is universally positive.

edit: maybe in another year I will drive the GT3 daily, but it just has not happened yet. I will say that other than it having a roof it is truly an amazing experience ... of course, you are probably going to jail hitting 9k in second gear, but the visceral feel of 9k, the gearbox, the LWB seats just makes it an amazing experience.

Selling two cars to buy one is attractive to me right now. I'm out of garage room, not much time to maintain all the vehicles we own. Add insurance, license fees, etc. Consolidating to one car seems like a great idea. Especially considering that it's a GT3T 4.0.

I've had every iteration of 991 GT car there is. Embarassingly, if they built it, I've owned it. I've also owned a carrera T and currently own a touring. The T is flipping amazing as you know. It's the perfect do everything 911. The touring on a real drive is epic... no car I've had speaks to me like that. But around town it's still a GT3, and therefore, you have to wind it up to have fun.

I would say that it really depends on how you use the car as to whether it's worth the extra 100k. Need details on how this car will live its life.

I sold my touring after 2500 miles over one year. I don't have time to do anything besides drive to work and the 20 mile commute (in traffic on the way home) didn't allow me to enjoy the car enough to keep it. It was also a bit annoying to drive a manual in traffic after having PDK in my gts. Also made the mistake of buying a raptor which is fun/comfortable.

(bolded the verbiage I concur with)
I could see this, you kinda have to save it for special drives.

carrera T and 987 spyder feel pedestrian compared to a GT3. gt3 feels, looks and sounds special. for me I wd not have to think twice. in terms of ur # of cars , this is one of those situations of “less is more”

I had a Carrera T for a day....felt pedestrian like my 991.1 C2S....

If you want a special car get the GT3. They're night and day different.
