Default Anyone using 3/4” impact wrench for center locks

Hey I was wondering if anyone was using an impact wrench to torque or onto work there center lock nut. Is there any issue to untorque center locks or partially torque & then finish with my Precision Instruments breaker bar/torque wrench.

No team. I do a fair amount of HPDE events . Wheels come on & off frequently so looking for another solution to make it easier.

This has been discussed so many times, and the street centerlocks are not meant to be used with an impact wrench. Do a search and you will find your answer.

This is forbidden for the street version of centerlocks (will destroy the nut). Only works on Cup or other race car versions...

Don't do it. The metal on the nut will be deformed when using impact tools. Ask me how I know.

Buy a second nut removal tool (no pun intended) so you don't have to swap between breaker bar on torque wrench.

Search RENNtorq on this forum. Costly but eliminates need for breaker bar.

Do not use an impact tool. It has a high probability of damaging the centerlocks. The lock + spline are about $800 per wheel for parts.

This is wrong. The Rostyle wheels on a 1968 MGB didn't have knock off wheel nuts. Also, she should be using a lead hammer.
It is so wrong that I stared at the photo for almost an hour........

I have always found suede boots make a massive difference to the time required to remove a wheel with centre locks - you get better grip

I break the nut with a breaker bar and then use a regular cordless drill to unscrew the centerlock and then put it back on with the drill. Saves time taking it on and off. While not "per the manual" I've seen lots of folks break (just enough) all 4 nuts with the car on the ground to save time and then just change one side at a time using a cordless drill to remove and replace the centerlock nut. Torque each side in the air as you change the wheels.
