Default 991.2 GT3 RS Weissach carbon arb link broken

I removed the wheels to change brake pads and noticed that the front left carbon sway bar link ( weissach package) was just broken at the lower point

Only thing that was done previously it s some suspension lowering and geometry and almost for sure that part was ok

Since that lowering only some street driving and no track at all

Oh boy... here we go....

I suspect it will be blamed on the lowering but we'll see how many other failures show up in the coming months on stock cars.

Just wow. Always wondered about high loads on the the WP cars that were heavily tracked. Porsche isn't used to carbon suspension components like Ferrari have with their F1 cars.

If you did the lowering on the stock shocks and just made some adjustments, it should be covered (since Porsche intends people to make those adjustments).

I hope it all goes well and everything is repaired.

I think this will be covered because Porsche intends for the suspension to be adjusted and this shouldn't happen.

The car is low mileage and while I know that the previous owner did a couple of trackdays in Europe the car was completely standard and even if I usually use cars on track I did not went to track yet so no track after the lowering and geometry just maybe 200 miles of street

If it broke after some heavy track use I think it still shouldn t brake but here it just broke by itself... I think when lowering the car we would have noticed if it was hanging around...

I also agree that it would be better to get adjustable links when lowering the car but wouldn think they could just brake if adjusted within the oem shocks range (and my rs is fitted with the oem front lift so cant go much lower than stock anyway)

Not that big deal and I think the part will be changed under warranty but wondering if the parts are too weak and it s better to just get adjustable aftermarket ones...

And also how strong will be the carbon arb itself?

I totally agree. I'm certain it'll be covered under warranty. Just hope it doesn't prove to be a widespread issue. I've been considering getting one for myself.

how did it feel driving it? I would think you should have felt the difference, even though I know spring rates are up with the .2 RS cars (and roll bars are softer).

Can we get a closeup of the piece still bolted to at ARB? Is that a rubber boot, or is it rigid? Seems like a possible manufacturing defect...

I did not feel anything that special (other than the 991 2 rs underdamped rebound in soft suspension setting you feel on the street with the high spring rate and the steering is already more direct than the normal gt3) but I just used it for normal driving

No as I already refitted the wheels but it should be a full carbon rigid piece with just that boot over it

Carbon sway bars - is the reason why I did't choose WP.
Beause I use this car most of the time for track driving and after some discussion with "real race people" it was clear what choice to make.

I'm sure it's a warranty issue - so don't worry!

Thumbs down

Starting to open a can of worms.

Let's see whether if this becomes a systemic issue or is a one-off before we pass judgment.

Fact is, we know Porsche CF is sourced and supplied from China. There has been a few quality issues now with WP cars based on the RL threads.

- Hood CF inconsistencies, warping, peeling, bad weaving.
- Roof inconsistencies, pitting, warping.
- Broken sway bar.
