I hope this information can help you on your importation to Germany. Its Joe Fabiani president of Fabspeed Motorsport USA. and my company has shipped exhaust systems and intake systems to Germany for 25 years. Yes there are TUV laws over there and I dont advise breaking any laws anywhere..................but just like USA laws and regulations German consumers can install and continue to install aftermarket parts on their cars. Often you have to either doityourself , DIY, and or get a friendly shop to do the installation. A person cant get TUV approval and its a very expensive complicated process for companies too.

There are definitely "smart" ways to get around the regs, ie keep OEM Cats but change the cores etc

Most of Akrapovič systems are TÜV - friendly, with all needed papers.

Yes.. but everything with change at the catalysts or anything that makes real sound is not possible with TÜV. And its not only about getting this TÜV approval (I know there are ways... in the end you only need a TÜV guy who gives his sign off). If police checks - and they do because of riot idiots that make unnecessary noise - and have doubts that its legal, they tow the car and do very intense checks. Your friendly TÜV approval is woth nothing if they find something that is not street legal.

Disagree here. Even with Sports Cats (with TÜV) approval, Akrapovič systems are day and night in sound compare to OEM ones.

Are you you quoting their website ? If its TUV approved, its TUV approved you are unlikely to get into trouble, end of ! Of course if you stupid stuff like removing the Cats you should be arrested anyway, I guarantee Kline systems make much more noise. The general rule is don't take the p*ss with your mods

Wow this is just not true. Im from Germany and I had serveral highly modified Cars (with TÜV) anything from 600+ HP Nearly straight piped M2s to 900HP 997s...You have to know the right people, then you can get many things legal via „Einzelabnahme“....ATM im driving a 3RS which is around 10db louder than stock. I could get TÜV for it but I don’t want to since I don’t want the warranty to void.

Also: The police, most of the time, doesn’t impound your car when it is too loud. If you are nice towards them they give you a fine and you have to go to the TÜV (with your OEM setup) and get the car checked.

Not in Munich or Cologne. Since there ar a lot of posers they make specific investigantions, "Staatsanwalt" included on the street. Car will be towed. No discussion.

And there is no way of valid Einzelabnahme with modified catalysts. You will never be able to do alle the stuff for the Abgasgutachten. The homologation would be more expensive than the car. If it would be feasible, the tuners would offer headers with TÜV

Easiest way is just to do it and avoid driving in the citys, don't make unecessary noise and hope ;D

Which Akrapovic exhaust is TUV compliant? Anyone have any suggestions for a 991.2 GT3?

Only the center muffler I think but this alone is useless.
Its so easy in germany... If you want to maintain your Betriebserlaubnis -> don't change your exhaust. If you want to change something -> forgett about driving it legaly.
