Curious if the .2 GTS have the longer ratios in the PDK like my .1 GTS had? Even with a Cobb 93 octane tune I always felt the long gears in it's PDK really limited the .1 GTS. The GT3's PDKS ratios really complement the power curve in my .1 but when you're outside that range acceleration drops off a cliff.

Nah, ratios seem just right. 7th even provides good cruising RPM.

However, PDK is boring as hell. I am definitely a manual guy.

I really don't think you'd say that if you have ever driven one all out on a tight track. Not boring at all. Lazing around driving in Automatic mode? Yup. Boring, but will never get tedious like a manual can be - especially in traffic. Manually shifting a PDK? Not boring.

For me its more than just PDK. The combination of less linear response (turbo motor) with PDK is just not as engaging.

I love the car as a fast cruiser, and it is fun in the bends, but just not as involving as a NA motor with a good manual transmission.

I have similarly been disappointed by other turbo motor and double clutch combinations (other brands). They are fast, fun, and super comfortable. However, I have figured out I am a NA/manual guy.

A matter of personal preference. Its just a subjective thing.

I love manuals and I wouldn't mind one in a gt3. But since I've got pdk like my m5 I like to play in paddle mode. But also the traffic in Houston defers me from having a manual and I wont miss that. Theres a style for us all. All the race teams are paddle mode. Indy cars waited so much longer than formula ones to make the switch as now they are faster. But manuals are fun too

Maybe that's why I just felt "Meh" when I drove the Turbo S. Sure it was a blast stomping on it but other than that it felt (too) much like my Macan Turbo. However, the PDK in my GT3 feels just great, (probably not surprisingly) never feels like my Macan.

I think I could be content with a PDK and NA combination, but turbo and PDK just feels too synthetic. Sort of video game like.

The McLaren cars I have driven have the most unusual driving sensation because of their turbo lag and double clutch combination...

Porsche cars feel much more natural with turbo and PDK, but still not as visceral as a good old manual with a NA motor.

My .2 C4 GTS has been my DD since April. Love it. It’s not as “special” as my GT3T, but I smile every time I drive it. The GT3, even in Touring guise, is a much harder edged car than the GTS and I wouldn’t want to daily my GT3. The GTS is just the perfect balance of sport and comfort and, as the OP said, plenty quick. For me, I also like alternating between the AWD/PDK in the GTS and the manual in the Touring.

If I could only own one 911 and I planned to regularly drive it, it would be a .2 2wd GTS manual.

I agree that the GTS makes for a very good daily driver. It may be THE sweet spot in the 911 range for cars that can be driven regularly in fair weather.

I'm diff. I like the raw dawg feeling the gt3 provides. I also like how smooth the tts is and how it accelerates. But I chose the rawness and I can daily the gt3 if need be. **** I've put 9k miles in 4 months. None of my cars are garage queens. And if I want to go really fast I'll just hop in my wife's Mazda 6. Lol

Porsche sliced up the 911 like lunch meat. Every slice is different and there is a slice for everyone.
