Default Buying and mounting tires

To the guys in the San Francisco bay area, what is the most reliable shop for buying tires and having them mounted on Porsche magnesium wheels?

Sorry off topic, but I'd like to put in a plug for those of us in Denver and Dallas for On Site Tires. They come to your house, mount, balance and R&R on the car with their truck. They have the center-lock tools and expertise as well. Pricing similar to Tire Rack (but they deliver and install on car at your house or many track events).

What about the dealer?

However, I would PM @mooty he is quite particular in detailing and how things are done and is in that area, if anyone knows, I am guessing it is him.

Post this in the 997 GT3 RS forum, there are several CA guys that are very knowledgable that should be able to point you in the right direction.

For anything besides mag wheels, just use any good tire shop, though preferably by bringing the wheels to them off the car. However, with mag wheels, I'd say dealer, no one else will know what they are dealing with.

Ask yourself this - if one rim gets a messed up, who do you think would replace it free of charge for you? I would go there....

Try Roger Kraus Racing in Hayward (https://rogerkrausracing.com). Very nice people and are very well versed in working with Porsche center lock wheels. I've heard from others that they're very meticulous with high end cars. I plan to buy my next set of Cup 2's from them. And they're competitive with Tire Rack.

I only go to Alekshop in Fremont for tire mounting and balancing. I don’t trust anyone else.

Roger Kraus is good. I've used them for years for my WRX.

Hijacking this thread. Anyone have mount and balance recommendations in SoCal (Santa Barbara)?

I have the tires already, and found only one shop willing to do it but they want $250 (!) and that is with the indy next door removing and reinstalling the wheels for a brake job. Dealer is booked into October, so not an option. Unless I'm crazy, I don't think $250 is reasonable given I'm going to also be billed for removal / installation labor by the other shop.

It is maybe $50 high for around here, but not that far out of line.

dealers often will not mount tires unless u buy from them.

any tire shop can mount any tires to any wheels, it's not rocket science

BUT if a shop messed up your $5000/ea mag wheel or $12k/ea CGT wheels.... which shop has enough insurance to cover that?
I buy all my tires and mount them at Fremont Porsche

for my race cars.... hahahaha I don't give a fk.
if you have a hammer and a screwdriver, you can mount it. some times I don't even bother balancing them.
