I remember Sandy buying that car quite recently..Fantastic spec and a dead sure future classic..The 996GT3's official weight was actually a good chuck heavier compared to the standard 996, around 60Kg IIRC due to heavily upgraded suspension, stiffer body shell, brakes etc..

Engine and gearbox much heavier (and better) too. And the CS includes the cage.

Thanks for the Vid!!

It seems sensible to post a vid and your work deserves to be monetized.

On a separate note, I do miss my Mclaren 570....until I drive the GT3 for about 50 miles and have no 'check engine light' or other malady!

Cheers, and no regrets so far thankfully.
Even the bonnet seems pretty heavy which I think is steel, I know as I changed the struts recently. Maybe it just highlights the impressive weight saving progress on the latest cars, all that aluminium and carbon obviously makes a decent difference and has compensated well for the increase in physical size of these cars.
Good effort from McLaren though for sure.

Yeah I kinda miss my 720s until I too drive my RS and have no check engine light, engine going into limp mode or car needing a new engine with only 1100 miles on it! Further , I miss my Mclaren until I need any type of service and I see how good Porsche customer service from a corporate level is . I’ve owned two Mclaren’s and NOTHING but fast headaches! All my friends with Mclaren’s have the same bad experience.

The official weight (assuming it ever actually is accurate and I personally have some doubts) by way of maximum weight saving options being selected as well as option delete where possible. So 1360kg on the 6.1 gt3 would have been with clubsport delete as well as aircon and radio delete but with 90% fuel.

given the video .2 3rs is 1465kg with a US spec car ie no roll cage that's pretty heavy given it's a weissach car with bbs fi-r wheels imo.

Thanks for mentioning that. Most YouTube guys making money all put out videos that are 10-20min long. There’s some threshold I’ve heard that to get more money off videos they need to be longer than ten minutes. A lot of people like to see videos of what’s going on and of the cars 👍

I liked the video. Thanks for posting. Unbelievable how many complainers there are about watching a 2 minute video. The actual enthusiast/car guys enjoy seeing this sort of stuff.
I do find it humorous that the complainers about the video have 2800, 1800, 8000....posts on an internet forum. IF you have time to post 8000 times on the forum you have 2 minutes to watch a video. Sorry! lol

+1. Was going to write something but thought I'd better keep it short so no one would complain.

I weighed the GT2RS today. Weissach, No FAL, Buckets, half a tank of gas. It's probably 65-75lbs light than if the tank were full. Don't mind the corner weights. Was in a rush and two are swapped. Overall weight is obviously correct

Nice work

If you get a chance to weigh a .2 GT3 Manual with Buckets and PCCBs would love to see the results
