I think this is due to the new method of how pot holes are fixed nowadays. I've seen a large truck/machine that spits out tar out of a tube, and then fills with little rocks (out of the same tube) with tar or something similar to make it all stick. I don't believe I saw this last year.... first time this year.

Guess what they don't do? Clean up the leftover rocks that don't stick.

I was driving my wife's car in the spring and something similar happened. Got 3 chips in the windshield in a matter of 30 seconds. I was furious. You can get them filled in, as long as they are not cracks. That is what I did : ) PPF took care of the front end.
