Default Powder coating stock wheels?

I actually like the design of the stock GT3 wheels, but was wanting to go from the factory satin black to a satin bronze (or similar color). Has anyone tried a high quality powder coating of their factory wheels? Were you happy with how things turned out in terms of quality and durability?

Not exactly your answer but I powder coated my FCar wheels. Diamond finish to matte black. Came out great and have held up perfect....

I debated buying new wheels but for a semi daily driver seemed ridiculous to spend that kind of money on the same wheel just in black....

My understanding with the forged wheels is that excessive heat from some powder coating processes and damage the integrity of the wheel. I am not sure about the latest generation of GT3 wheels, but there has been discussions about this on the 996 GT3 board. You might want to do a search on the subject.

You want to be careful about who you select to powder coat your wheels and understand what baking temperatures and times they use.

Ok, so you contact a powder coater and they tell you they bake at X degrees for Y amount of time. And? Then what? What do you do with that information? Is there some data from Porsche about the OEM wheels stating what kind of powder coating process they can withstand or something?

I had Porsche powder coat my Platinum wheels to Satin Black on my previous GT3 also, no complaints.

A friend powdercoated wheels for his Murcielago. Hubby researched it as we were considering the same process and there was evidence that integrity may be affected. This was 10 years ago. I don’t recall details. We decided against it because ours was a track car at the time (LP560). For street it might be fine but I wouldn’t do it on wheels going to the track.
