Production numbers are entirely irrelevant for ANY 991.

Even within the GT family there's just way too many of each variant flooding every corner of the market. Even if my car's painted in unicorn tears from Exclusiv Manufaktur it'll just be a (slightly) more unique version of a common car...

(Before angry folks douse me in napalm, know that GT cars now comprise almost 1/3 of global Porsche sports car sales)

^^^yes.

That being said, they are freakin awesome cars to have fun with. But that's an entirely different topic.

Certainly don’t want to get involved in this one but just a quick fact check. ~250k 991’s produced worldwide. ~32k 991 GT ww max. (~90k 991’s for NA, ~11k GT)
i know these are only 911 figures but GT production is not even close to 33% of PAG global sports car production.

no offense but some of you guys get so defensive about PTS, it’s like your whole identity is wrapped up in it. you and evilfij lead the parade. hope you are actually enjoying your cars, as the hype machine must take up a lot of time. as for your challenge, there have been many PTS 991.2 GT3s available at sticker or below, including several here on RL.

I don’t think I am defensive at all. Do I come off as so? I am just OCD and a little different. The registry was an insomnia project (I like lists). I wish someone had the PTS info for 2RS like RyanTT did for GT3 and compiled the cars like Montoya did for GT3 and I did for touring. It’s fun to look at all the colors (it’s not like I am wrenching on a new GT3 much like I do with my old junk). As far as PTS, as I said when I bought mine, I was paying twice, the PTS cost and an equal loss because no one else would like the color I picked. 🤣

I have about 3600 miles on mine now. It’s filthy and I am enjoying it immensely. I use it a lot, the only thing I have not done is go full daily driver as there has been a lot of traffic due to construction this summer which makes the commute in it a drag. Here is a picture of it from Brooklyn last weekend when I did 300 miles in a day. (No 2RS present unfortunately, I was admiring the m-roadster as it passed through). The best part was that I got to meet a bunch of Porsche owners, some PTS some not. Some on RL, some not. Some GT some not. Some air, some water. Also got to meet owners of other makes too. Beyond answering “what color is that” 100 times, I don’t think there was much difference between the PTS and not experience. I am doing two more drives this weekend. A dealer event at warrington on sat and an fcar event about 90min away on Sunday. I will probably give her a bath before the fcar event .... I caught a lot of flak for having a dirty car.

Here’s my true “paint to sample”, certainly more rare then a PTS GT3 it’s the one of one bespoke SVR. Only bespoke ever built for NA. Color did not come off of any “approved” list. Took over a year to complete and couldn’t be happier with the outcome.

there are plenty of “rare” cars out there, a new GT3 is not one of them. For myself Chalk was the color I wanted on my 3RS so no need for PTS however there were no colors I liked for the SVR so it made going the bespoke route a no brainer.

There are US-specific numbers on GT3s, GT3RSes, GT2RSes and GT4s for the year on this forum.

You can quickly see how this is adding up to much more than we'd all like to think. That gross number for US alone should be in the 3-4K range off the top of my head.

That ratio will get further skewed as you include the new world markets.

Lastly, I didn't set out to calculate this 1/3 number... it was mentioned during one of my "meetings" with the factory cleaning ladies. Think the same number also came out in one of the recent press interviews too... darnit I almost believed it when she said I was special...

You’re not really factoring in production cycles though, just taking one year to get a skewed statistic. Overall NA 991 production is around ~90k, about 11k of those are GT, a lot I would agree but certainly not a third of production.
Even if we don’t count the earlier years and just do 991.2 NA sales for 2017, 2018 and 2019 then we have ~35,000 991s with a total of around ~7k GT cars built in the three years. (3,250 GT3, 1,775 GT3RS, 1,275 GT2RS, 700 Speedster)
