It's crazy. Of my group of close buddies here, none of them owned a 911 when I first met them. Over the last few years, every single one of them has purchased (at least) one! haha.

We have a running joke that I am both a good and bad influence in that way...

Recent activity among them:
1. One just bought his first, a 997.2 C4S
2. Another bought a 997.2 GTS (stick)
3. Another bought a 997.2 GTS (PDK)
4. Another bought a 996 C4S and just replaced with a 997.2 C4S
5. Another bought a 997.2 GTS and then replaced it with a 993 C2

^^ Interesting so many went 997.

Questions for you Bergx7: Were #'s 1 & 4 above both manual? ... Also, is your 2018 GT3 a manual?

Manual was a must-have for me (year ago), & couldn't afford (or find a Aqua Blue) manual 991.2 GT3 (which would have been a Sapphire), so went back to a 997.2 GT3 (which was a unicorn w/ only 15 painted & sold in NA in ABM).

... wish I could post a Wing Meal pic here (but love seeing all of yours)....

997 > 991

I have a few friends like you. They are my favorites.

They all came to the conclusion that 997 was best bang for buck, modern yet analog, etc. etc.

My buddies #1/4 C4S are both PDK. One of those buddies can't drive stick very well and the other was set on manual but rented a PDK Boxster S on Turo and chased me around some mountain roads for a day and decided the PDK was really fun too.

Agree 997 > 991 though I REALLY like my 991 (which is PDK), hehe. So much more capable out of the box. I highly recommend everyone buy one of each

Oh and also make sure you dump $50k+ into the 997 to make it a sorted 4.0 liter car

Aqua Blue is a great color and I would love it on a 997.2 GT3. Post a pic here!

sure thing. Thanks for the recap Berg!

About a month ago, I took a week & drove up to the Adirondacks to be with my Dad. He had never been in a GT car before & wanted to explore the mountains he has known all his life, but in a different way. He now lives in our family cabin (we've had on a lake up there since 1983) in the heart of the Adirondacks. So I've also driven a lot of those roads all my life (& hunted the Newcomb area Mtns),... but never in a 911. Never even took our '91 964 Turbo up there,... ever. So this was going to be it (took the GT3 cuz I really wanted him to experience 8,400rpm in a NA engine). He's now 76 yrs, and said he thought I would make him puke, so for the 1st day he took some Dramamine. By the 2nd day (up to Lake Placid) he was TOTALLY into it, and wanted me to push it more & more (we hit 163 on one 3 mile stretch). ... So many adventures, met lots of people up there while cruising around all the small towns (& big ones), and so much fun. Great memories were made that week.

So this is the closest I could find to a Wing pic (minus the meal). This was at the foot of Whiteface Mountain Ski Resort....
....... (I've also posted other pics & stories of that trip over on the 997 "GT3 Picture Thread" ( https://rennlist.com/forums/997-gt2-...thread-77.html post # 1141 & more after that too)

What a great experience and memory to have between you both. I've always wanted to do a long drive with my father before the physical limitations that come with age kicked in. You have inspired me to get something on the calendar with him.

Definitely do it. In fact I implore all of us to find those family members (especially younger nieces & nephews too) that might not otherwise get a chance at rides (or even to drive!) these GT cars. I have several family members who always seem to mention how cool it is to have & drive such a more unique flavor of the 911 line-up,... but never seem to take me up on my offers (albeit usually an "open" invitation). My brother could really give a crap. My sister is one who I KNOW would love it, but is always "too busy". My Mom talks a big game, but when it comes time to throttle up or get some corner G's,... she tells me to "SLOW DOWN!",... so I know it is out of her wheel-house.

And yea, ALL of your cars are a inspiration to me. There is just something about the WINGS on these cars that is so sexy & juicy to me (& luckily my wife too). Keep the Meals-on-Wings pics coming. I promise I will do this someday soon.

Oh, & speaking of the Colonel's new Chicken sandwich (rage in the news, but haven't tasted one yet),... Chic-Fil-A is big out here. Maybe that's my ticket to a unique meal on the wing that no one has posted yet.

I'm starting to think that a GT wing with a couple built in cup holders would be a good idea. Who knows - it might also improve aero and downforce.
