If it was known that Porsche would schedule production to deliver enough cars at launch there wouldn’t be the pent-up demand stretching for months. Satisfying VIP owners, real preorders and having dealer spec cars on the lot would be enough to discourage ADMs.

The problem is that the GT3 shouldn't be considered a $200k car. It started as a $100k car (with 996.2 in USA) and has drifted upwards over time. But most recently, it wasn't even a $150k car (before options). Let's not start thinking of it as a $200k car, please. I know that's a pittance to some, but to others, it has been a stretch at its current price.

I'd rather navigate the silly games with the possibility of getting it at a price I can afford than have them price me out of the market, while making it a simpler process for others with more money to execute a sale.

I agree that Porsche will likely keep increasing prices at an accelerating rate to find the limit in the demand. However, this will only contribute to a sharper decline on the other side of the bubble. Not sure that is best for business.
Ahhhh....I get it....Porsche will squeeze every last dollar out of the US market....be curious to know the % inc of MSRP vs the spread to invoice % for dealer profit....is it going up at the same rate?

I think a valid point exemplified by the recent GT4 reveal is that the new car releases are suffering from diminished returns
or as Mooty put it "Meh"
Supply and less demand would apply pricing pressure downward from MSRP.

Also, I believe they will not be able to fool speculators next round either,
negating that segment's demand

Cars devalue with time. So you may as well drive the crap out of them instead of rubbing them with a diaper in the garage. GT cars are not excluded from normal depreciation.

I've gotta think with every manufacturer producing a glut of "special" cars, year after year, at some point enough people will tire of spending another 200k. Throw a recession in the mix at some point and it'll make for some entertaining times here.

With the new 718 GT4 and Speedster and GT2 RS, the US had a disproportionate bump to its price.

For the first time, the US price in Dollars is higher than the German price in Euros (including 19% Tax). For example, the German price for a new GT4 is 96k Euros (US price is over $99k before delivery). With the 981 GT4 (and most earlier GT models) we paid fewer dollars ($84,600) in the US than the Germans paid Euros (nearly 86k Euros). With the new one, the German price (with tax) went up 10k and the US price went up nearly 50% more ($15k).

Both the Speedster and GT2 RS also have prices higher in Dollars than in Euros (including tax)

Look how good we have (had) it with the .2 GT3: The Germans pay 152,400 Euros and we pay $143,600. If the 992 GT3 follows this trend (around 18% increase, rather than the 10% increase we last saw with the .2 GT3) the next GT3 will start at $170k before any options. I bought my .2 GT3 well equipped (Full Leather, LWB's, optional Paint color, FAL, etc.) for $158k including Euro Delivery. Until US customers stop paying the much higher prices (and often with ADM on top of that), Porsche will not have any incentive to pull back. I'm hoping this trend does not continue or I'll soon be priced out of the market...

And while this post may have just encouraged the opposite of what I'm hoping, let's not all vote in polls and threads here that speculate that we're expecting (and prepared to pay) much higher prices next round. That sort of thing only adds to Porsche's confidence to keep escalating the price of entry.
Thanks for the numbers. Very interesting.

It appears that unlike the previous GT generations, the current PAG mindset is to monetize the GT division and leveling supply with demand, but until that happens, customers will continue to pay market prices. PAG doesn't see a penny of the ADM, but I could be wrong on that.

People have short memories. We are at the end of the 991 GT run, if not beyond it. Prices always settle down at the end. The guys who buy first who don’t have trusted dealership always pay up. Guys who wait toward the end always pay MSRP. This is nothing new. Same will happen with the 992. This is the same discussion had every time we are at the end of a run.

Agree. What is foolish is to get upset about how another man spends his own money.
