I want one! Two years old... It will sell new for $175K - and two years old for $45K. Deal of a lifetime!!! I can "safely" tow my jetskis at 165 mph...
Ship heading in wrong direction if true. I know the X5M didn't directly kill real M cars but its not a coincidence that those two events coincided in my view. Once focus for specialty cars shifts to mass appeal and branding the end is near if history is any indicator.
On the bright side existing GT cars are lovely things and have been for 15 years. Start accumulating.

I’m holding out for the RS version...... you know it’s coming. And I wouldn’t be surprised if a limited R version will be released. Just imagine the ADM on those.
I don’t know if I should be laughing or crying.....

Somewhat conflicted by this thread. Having been a "M" purist in past I thought the idea of an X5M was ridiculous. Same for an AMG badged SUV. I generally buy the sportiest/powerful spec in a given line-up (have X5M and GL63) so once I committed to the body style, make, and model getting the "top dog" was a no brainer. Makes the daily driving experience more interesting than not having it. But I think BMW has lost it's way slapping an "M" suffix even on it's more mundane models.
I guess if manufactures can make much better margins to build the cars I really want to drive (like GT cars), I guess it's a compromise I can live with.
