The only list that matters is that of the person writing the check. My own list would look very different and if the GT4 suits someone, they should absolutely choose it (whether or not the rest of the world agrees).

I have never felt more connected to a car than driving the GT4, the CG of a mid engine GT4 is that good where I can make that claim. It is balanced, poised and just potent enough. It is confidence inspiring where you can feel like flinging it around turns but in tight, fast turns the rear suspension does not keep up with the rest of the car.
The Touring has gobs of power and a bit of an edge in comparison. The rear wheel steering makes the GT3T feel planted in those same, tight turns, and allows the GT3T to recover smoothly from the dips and valleys encountered on back roads. That stability makes my pick the Touring over the GT4.

BTW, not related to this at all, I have a pristine Silver GT4 for sale, 10 out of 10, 2700 miles, $117 MSRP, asking $99k
If I may ask- why are you selling the GT4? Why such low mileage? I really don’t understand how so many hardly drive these.

I owned, tracked, and loved a GT4 - underpowered and understeers. Great car but sold it as the air starved engine and power loss at higher RPMS ANNOYED me a ton at the track. I agree with about everything said here as to the differences between a GT4 and GT3. I now own a GT3T, sell your GT4 and buy the GT3, especially if it is a MT. You will never look back. Similarly, if I could sell my GT3 to acquire a GT2RS, I would in a heartbeat.

Had the GT4 and traded it in on a .2 GT3. With more garage space and financial freedom I would have kept the 4. I loved the way the car shrunk around me, but there's no denying Porsche neutered it. While I've only had my GT3 for about two months I will say that it is in a completely different league: chassis, grip, and the engine is unreal. I didn't track the GT4 but had the 3 out at Road America recently and was impressed by how quickly it got from corner to corner. In fact several times while on track I said out loud to myself "I can't believe how f***ing fast this car is."

I thought about the GT2 RS. But it’s really a track only car that can be driven back and fourth- and it’s epic. My needs are mostly street and occasional track use (I hope). I wanted normally aspirated manual transmission (eliminates RS cars)- which in my view is what makes these cars “special”. There are many cool paddle shifter and turbo cars which in my view are less engaging and less entertaining- even though they are faster.

When I want speed above all- I presume a future electric car will beat all of these compromised ICEs.

That's exactly my opinion and advice as well.

Some people may have multiple cars?

We tend to forget that when the GT4 first came out, the car world was on fire about how this was the car Porsche would never make and putting a 911 motor in a Cayman and car of the year accolades and so on.

The GT4 was never meant to compete with the GT3 and what makes the car incredible is the experience, much like the discussion on the current Speedster vs. the previous generation. Every GT3 or GT2 will be faster, but that doesn't make the 997 GT3 or 996 GT2 any less relevant or better.

Not making a point for the GT4...just a comment on the "neutered" motor.

Porsche did neuter the 911S 3.8 so that it would starve up top - dumb and frustrating on the track; especially when I traded in my 2014 911S MT, and could really tell the difference with the "same" motor. However, if I could own only one car and it was a GT4, I would be a very happy person. And, if I did not track my cars often, the GT4 would be perfect. I am just saying, buy the GT3.

Yes..they are very different...if you are able to have both, you should not even have a debate about owning them

Because I had 10k miles on the other GT4

I bought two GT4s new, took this 2nd one on only because a dealer in our area opened their door 6/2016 and I wanted to establish myself on the "good guy GT" list. We had a verbal that this GT4 would get me a 991.2 GT3 , then that staff left and I didn't
It isn't the car but the tainted relationship causing this divorce

If you have the flexibility to own both that's perfect...the GT4 is a blast to drive but a 911 is a 911...both amazing in their own right.

GT4 is a ton of value.

I am thinking of adding a boxster spyder to my 991.2 gt3 PDK for a nice contrast and more of a canyon carver.

Have both (GT3T and GT4). On the fence on keeping the '4'. Would buy (Boxster) Spyder with hindsight now...
Lovely little car on the street, bit disappointing when tracking. Keeps one honest about one's skills though.

That is an excellent plan.
