I'm a bit fed up with Harrys laptimer so now it is time to test something new.
One reason for me to choose Aim is that we have the Aim Evo 5 data logger in our VLN car so I can use the camera in that car too.
Also Aim seems to be easy to move between my RS and the GT3.
Considererd RaceNavigator for a while but I feel that the support of the product is weak.
I'll get the system next week and will try to install it then.
Anyway:
I tried to figure out if there is a way to manually select a lap as a reference lap?
When I drive RCN the first lap is always the reference lap because the first laps laptime needs to be repeated later in the race. (RCN is a mix between a normal race and a regularity race.)
I have decided to go with a RN ONE primarily so that I can easily swap it from car to car as I can have 2-3 cars at the track on the same day.
It is very practical. We use RN-One (first gen) too. I really like the software for the iPad. Very intuitive.
Some say gen 2 gets very hot. Keep an eye on it.
Were you running different tires? I notice 2 second lap time difference between .1 vs. .2
Cup 2 on .1 and Trofeo R on .2.
I just need a little more time in the .2. I don’t have the kind of laps I did on the .1 and don’t feel as comfortable at the edge with the .2. I’m sure it’s faster but I had a lot done to my .1 to close the gap (akra headers, tune, diffuser, more aero, PMNA cup control arms and bearings, etc).
Going to use the SmartyCam this weekend but have limited time to set it up properly...
I wonder what is the normal setup of the Smartycam to use with a Solo 2DL when it comes to Automatic start?
It looks like either speed or the Solo logger can start the Smartycam.
What would you sugest?
SmartyCam default is to receive a trigger signal from the Solo 2DL. If they are connected the Solo 2 will send a signal to the camera to start logging when you are on track and the Solo detects such.
As long as you are connecting the two together there is no need to mess with that function.
You do need to get into the smartycam and set up your overlay however.
I'm used to Harrys Laptimer and it normally starts recording when I pass the start line.
When will Solo start recording?
(Sorry for all these questions but I'm trying to be as prepared as possible... appreciate you taking your time helping me.)
It starts recording video & data when the SoloDL senses the car moving above a certain speed (5mph? can't remember)
It stops when the car has stopped for a pre-set period of time (user programmable)

I believe you can set the threshold for longitudinal G change or you can specify a specific speed for it to automatically start recording
