I just bought a 2014 that had the G series engine installed about 1000 miles ago (mileage on the car at the time was 39k). Pretty happy to have a brand new engine with 1k miles on it still covered by warranty for another 5 years and 80k miles. Not worried about it in the least, car is a beast!

i'd rather have a replaced G engine - that would be seen as a selling point to me..

What is the best / easiest way to check whether its G engine or not?

G1 engine, which is the second revision, was released July 2016 I believe. I may be possible that a car came with it from factory but extremely rare.

On a side note I recently sold my GT3 which had a replaced engine. Nearly every prospective buyer either had no issue with it or saw it as a plus.

Only one buyer took issue with it.

. Same here, just bought 2014 with G motor installed 17000 miles in 2018, purchased with 21000 miles. I looked at it as a huge plus for me. By the way this was an early 2014 car and the first motor was swapped at 400 miles and it was the second motor that failed in 2018 at 17000 miles, glad to have the G motor now
