What sizes did you run? I'm running 245/35/18 front and 275/35/18 with the R7s and it looks like BFG only has 245/40/18 fronts.

How do the R7s compare to PSC2s? In grip and longevity?
The Hoosiers are more expensive than the michelins on tire rack.

- You can’t run bfg r1 or r1s in a 991 GT3.

- Slicks are prohibited by Porsche in the 991 GT3 street cars because of Rear Axle Steering, but you can run them at your own risk.

- R7s cord in 12 track sessions or less, if they last you longer, you’re not winning DE Cup.

- A7 cord in 6 track sessions or less, see above.

- Cup2R have 3 compounds, each compound cost over $1200 per set, the fast compound lasts less than an hour, if they last you longer, see above. If you don’t make more than $2000/hr ($3000 if you live in the West Republic), Cup2R is not a good choice even if you win your local DE Cup.

- If you’re not winning your local DE Cup Championship, stick to Toyo R888R, waste less $$$$ and have an excuse for slow.

- If you’re slow, hire a coach. If a coach can’t make you faster safely, you’re too slow.

- if you’re too slow, register as a novice at each DE. Novices are excluded from DE Cup.

- If you’re too slow and want to DE Cup, Thanks for Point-By.

What is the issue with this, too much load on OEM rear steering and suspension components? Anyone seen failures?

Yes, I ran the 245/40 as well.

Ran the BFG R-1 in DE & SCCA regional races with good luck and durability without heat cycling as Hoosier recommends.
BFG stopped making the rear size I use so switched to Hoosiers, found them to be 2-3+ seconds quicker everywhere.
But they do benefit from the heat cycle routine of running a session and letting them sit for a minimum of 48 hours. Seems
to increase the number of cycles before they really drop off, when they’re done you’ll know it.

Can you expand on the life of the R7's? You said they cord in 12 track sessions, but how long until they start to fall off, say, 3 seconds a lap? I just ran a day with the Cup 2R's and they were done by lap 25 on a 3 mile course. I'm trying to make the call on if I can get a set of R7's through a two day event, or need to make other plans.

You should have no problem getting two track days out of the R7s - at least if they are normal track days (5 to 6 thirty minute sessions per day). I have gotten 2.5 to 3 track days out of my R7's. By the end of the 2nd day and the rest of the 3rd day, they are slower no doubt. But still as fast fresh street rubber.

Thank you for the info. That is very helpful and gives me confidence I can drive without conserving tires to stay off the cords. Sorry for the personal question, but for reference would you say you are on the pointy end of lap times or dull end?

ha, no prob. Hard to answer I suppose, as there is always someone faster. but i'd say pointy end - to use your barometer. Dont know what tracks you run so these might not mean anything to you. My best lap at barber motorsports in my gt4 is 1:40.59 and best lap at Hallett in gt4 is 1:21.97. those laps were on second day hoosiers
