In talking to Sean groer his .2 GT3 had FAL and he said it made a pneumatic type sound when lifted and a whoosh when released. His RS makes an electric sound. And obviously they changed something between the two.
I wonder if the old old system was mounted on the top of the strut and the new one is low on the strut. Might make sense if the new RS suspension has more solid mounts on the upper strut

On all the 991.1 and 991.2 with optional Front-Axle Lift, they use a bunch of heavy and complex hardware ( too much weight). The system is pneumatic and uses the bulky air pump. The inflation device is right below the strut tops.
The 991.2 GT3 RS and 991.2 GT2 RS use a new FAL. The new system is pretty compact in hardware, it is hydraulic (oil pressure based) instead of the old pneumatic (air based with corresponding air pump). The little oil tank has the oil pump built into it. These two cars. have a little add-on at the bottom of the main front spring/strut like the 2nd picture from the OP above (my 2019 GT3 RS came like that).
I'm unable to drop my car where I want it (100mm from front chassis lowest point to ground), because of FAL.
FAL=Fail

i bought my car used i really didn't want FAL but no choice as every .2gt3 used seemed to have FAL. I hardly use it though.

sorry to bring a old post from 4 years ago up
I just picked up a 991.2 RS and was wondering if I used a Tarett engineering spring upgrade I can get the car to go lower?

I did this on my 991.1 with a FAL and achieved the height i was looking for
